I really really hope the Wii U and its mastodon controller do well.

I would loath seeing all those gargantuan controllers in a land fill... They might have to make new landfills just for the Wii U.

Seriously though look how the Wii U controller dwarfs the competition

Look how comfortabley the 360's controller rests in the hands.

Playing a game on this divine gamepad is quite the privelege.

Compared to the Wii U's controller one can notice the clear tension in the hands (especially the left one).

The analog placement is terrible as is the home button, select and start...

The square design lends the controller to not be ergonomical and then the big elephant in the room noone on the system wars wants to talk about... Literally the big elephant of a controller.

A lot of proffesionals say its comfortable but who knows how much they get paid to say that? I'd have to hold the thing myelf before knowing, plus there might be a whole new design on it come e3 ( I doubt it though ) .

After the story came out about how Activision bought positive COD reviews by sending reviewers to resorts to play their game I never trust the "professionals".

I love all the hate that this controller is getting from everyone who hasn't used it, yet the professionals that have used it at E3 and CES have nothing but nice things to say about it.

It looks pretty weird but i know it will be confortable based on Nintendo previous controller, i'm glad that they finally got rid of those terrible joysticks they used in the Nunchuck, it's too early to decide and it might change in the final version, but so far i like what i'm seeing.

Think about gripping a mountain... Think about grabbing a bull by its horns... That is the experience this controller will bring.

It is a cyclopean feat of human engineering. The fact that something this size could be lifted by the average person shows Nintendo's masterful engineering... Maybe it is only like King Arthur's sword and only a few can lift it LOL!

I have great respect for the size of this elephantine controller... I just can not see myself gaming on it.

I can't praise it or bash it since I haven't tried it myself. Sure "professionals" have praised it but I prefer to hold it myself, play a couple of games, and then decide yay or nay.

Every single person who has come into contact with the controller has praised it extensively. I don't understand why System Wars keeps making a big deal about it.

you have to remember that the back of the wiiu controller has a really nice grip, and btw, the bigger a controller is the more comfortable it is. I really liked how the original xbox controllers let you stretch your fingers out.

I don't care how big the controller is. If the Wii U delivers a great gaming experience, and innovative new ideas, then I will buy it. But if it is just another Wii in that it has a couple great games then a bunch of crappy games with the gimmick poorly tacked on as an afterthough....or more "Mii" games that cost $50 but look like something you should be able to download for $1 off the App store...then I'm not going to bother.

Nintendo is allowing it's consumers to get their butts back on the couch, and now the complaints are shifting to the design. I'm not surprised.

Maybe not but to me the GCN controller looked uncomfortable and it turned out to be my favorite controller.

So I wouldn't judge how comfortable the controller is until I play it because I was wrong before.

It will have 360 ports and a massive controller with a touch screen.

The Wii U is basically a Jumbo DS.

I have had laptops that were some of the mot comfortable umm..."controllers" ever. I had a hard time adjusting to the N64 controller but that is more of a 6 face button issue that I have than size. I have a hard time imaginng that this will be the only controller available for thw Wii U. Maybe classic controllers will be compatible with all games.

the triggers are directly behind the buttons and the sticks... I havent held the device yet, but it seems that this orientation puts your index fingers in a lot more of a natural position instead of always having your index wrapped over the top of the controller

The Wii mote was perfect for Wii Sports and mostly akward for everything else. The analog stick on the nun chuk had the worst dead zone I've ever seen on a controller. The nubs on this thing worry me more than its weird square design. I'd like to see a normal controller for once from Nintendo. I'm glad that PS hasn't "fixed" what was never broken to begin with.

Well, you might want to wait until you actually hold it to talk about weight, ergonomic, etc. Ive seen tons of controllers or keyboards that were called ergonomic and I disagreed until actually holding/using them. Everyone, not just professionals, that have posted responses after holding the controller have said that despite how it looks, it is one of the most comfortable controllers to hold. I did not expect it to be called most comfortable, but I am holding back judgement until person experience. However, I will say that I like that the triggers are directly behind the face buttons.

so you are saying that controllers for NES through GC were not normal? What wasn't normal about all the controllers before the Wiimote? ALso, I found the CC to be pretty normal controller.

N64, Gamecube, and Wii all had weird controllers that worked perfectly for one or two main Nintendo games and was mostly a nightmare for third parties to deal with.

Yeah... Nintendough paid off the press I am sure. The thing looks very uncomfortable and has little grooves and curves. Basically the controller is a rectangle.

Maybe you need to relax... I understand your getting tense thinking of wielding that monstrosity, sympathize with you.

Hows this for a joke... People holding a Wii U controller will become so frustrated that they soild themselves and really say WII U that stinks. LOL I bet that is the oirgins of the name.

Seriously you all have yet to defend the controller... You just say it feels great in the expert hands... The same experts that give COD 9s.

Phoenix534
Thats because they have to eventually sell the games they make for it. They are not gonna say bad about it for self preservation. From looks alone, it looks really awkward.
