I was playing Halo 3 (among other games) yesterday on a 70inch HDTV on 1080p or 1080i (depending on game)

I know the feeling you get, its amazing :P

True, but I have a 1050 P Widescreen Monitor with 7.1 Surround sound... and I can still see Wii games nearly as clearly.

The only "good" differences that have been done in recent years is Aerial to Digital TV , and VHS to DVD .... everything else has been minor.

If you can afford stuff like this then you are a very privileged person on this planet. Many of you seem to forget that and take luxury for granted, or even standard.

Blu-ray disc playback is 50% of why we got a PS3. Other half is great games on the horizon. We have a 360 to tide us over for now.

I know people who have giant Televisions you know ... the resolution means jack to a certain point, I'm not saying blu-ray is bad by any means, the second they drop to reasonable prices il be shoving one in the PC/Living room tele.

But, since I'm at a desk, size doesnt matter, 20' with 5.1 Surround sound headset = pure immersion , wether it be films or games, but I do prefer a sofa when I dont need to concentrate (Films) fair do's.

Al I'm saying is , its not a big jump, its minor , nothing to be impressed with really.

A monitor is nothing like a good HDTV with the full sound system set up. Its just too costly.

true, but the difference between 720P and 1080p IS overrated.
