I forgot how much I hate Steam. I live on a boat, so my laptop cannot get internet at the moment and Steam won't start in offline mode for no reason at all. Its stupid that I paid $50 bucks for a offline game, yet I can't play it w/o an internet connection.Blue-Sky
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this thread but I completely agree with you. It is BS that HL2 and Portal require an internet connection.
Again, games are better on 360.Eeeeeeh wrong. The best version is always on the PC in the end.
Look at the crap called PS3, has no AAA game in a full year.
PC is just as bad. The best version is always on 360 at the end.

depends on how good your PC is and whether you get glitches (which are pretty much random) but in general, I agree.

Don't get me wrong, The PC version is better in every concievable way. The game is good, Its just that Steam has too many problems, with not even a hint on how to fix them.

both my network adapters are disabled. I click the option, "start in Offline mode" and it responds:
" This operation cannot be completed when Steam is in offline mode."
Its stupid, I was just playing with steam online like yesterday...

whats the point of this thread? anyways guys i have a question...do you think console max online players are being kept at 16 for some reason? i mean yesterday i was playing a 19 player LAGLESS TF2 game on 360 even though the game is set at 16 players...heck one day it went as far as 21 players....im not the only though, many other people have experienced this as well....so i think if Valve wanted they could easily have made 360 version set on 24 players....i dont care though coz even 16 players is a riot...so why are the still keeping the game at 16 when the the game can g up to 21 players without any problems?mingo123Hate to burst your bubble, but the 360 is limited to 16 players on TF2.............. you couldent have played with 21..........

you dont believe me? man i swear to godi did play 21 players once and yesterday night i played with 19 players....honest, some people also reported same thing on xbox forums....and thats whatnim saying the game is 16 players then how was i able to play with 19 and 21 players? without any lag AT ALL, compeltely lagless....search on xbox forums and you might find something about it
Edit: Here: http://forums.xbox.com/16431056/ShowPost.aspx
i read that long time ago and though he was BS'ing and then i experienced it myself!
1 dude said: "Only had this once, frightening this is that there was no lag and i made a point to count the people on my side as i ran past them (sad I admit) but there was def 12 on my side. May be an exploit with reserved places for players?"

Ah I cant be bothered searching forums. All I know is that there is a 16 player limit in the game, and most of the lag has been fixed, but there are still lag issues.
Yes ive gathered that from the actual game, and people on my XBL friends list

Yeh Steam can be annoying at times I know what you mean.
But seriously if anyone actually thinks Half-Life is played better on a console I pity him.

No they don't. I've played them both offline many times. There's no real reason you shouldn't be able to boot up Steam in offline mode, and every game in offline mode works (except TF2, obviously). The only time you have to be online is when you first boot the game up, so it can validate it. After that, you should be able to play it anytime, offline or on. What kind of error is it giving?
