I think a major video game company should sue jack thompson for libel

Just because of this incedent. When no evedence has been made public about the shoot not even his name or if he is a student, Jack goes on to slander video games for being violent. They should sue for any possible damage on sales for these baseless comments.

Also, you must prove that the slanderous speech is not true, I believe. I'm also thinking that you have to show that the person you are suing meant you harm by those words. Not sure about that, though.

Not yet they shouldn't. First the company should make sure that his allegations are not true. If by some accident the shooter did do this in part because of video games, then the suit will be dismissed faster than.... something that goes really, really fast. Chessman2391

I'm not sure about you needing to prove that harm was intended... that doesn't sound right. But you are correct in stating that you must be able to show that it isn't true.
