While I believe saleswise that Nintendo will win this generation at almost 90 million Wii's sold worldwide (and counting), vs. the 360 and PS3, both of which are around 60+ million sold worldwide and counting. In fact, the above information is based on the last official quaterlies posted by the BIG THREE. I'm simply posting in this here SW thread to be clear that a gaming generation doesn't end once a new generation starts. :P
It continues on until the very last console is produced. Just like all previous generations before. I'm not even into sales either, I just wanted to make sure SW remembered that, as this particular point (of "when a generartion ends")has been explained in SW ad nauseum. :P

I didn't say we are still in any generation. When new machines come along, a new generation starts, obviously. ;)
We are in the next gen sure, I never ever claimed otherwise, the issue is that the old generation doesn't die off immediately when a new generation begins. Nice try though. ;)
This topic of previous gens dying is old in SW, and already has been explained over and over and over and over.
I dug this up for you :

SolidTy :
Did the PSOne and N64 'sales' battle or games battle end when the Dreamcast came out? :P No, it did not....that's not how it works. Next Generation WILL start yes, but the previous Generation will still be going. ;)
If you are talking about SALES...well, the SNES was beat every early year in overall sales by the Genesis, in the 16 bit sales wars until something happened, the SNES eventually caught up, and is now remembered as the SALES VICTOR for that generation. ;)
Who knows what the future holds, but I don't worry about it. I only worry when the machines are new, and they don't have "safe" install bases...now, it doesn't even matter...over 20 million, and whatever.
If you are talking about games, again, we don't know the impact the Wii U will have on the PS3 and 360, which will either force next gen early or it won't. Sony wants the PS3 to last as long as possible, and Xbox is relying on the Kinect market, so they have their own agenda's and ideas about their business.

Okay, so it isn't clear... the sixth generation is still going on then? I read all your posts, but it's kind of unclear.
