With the game delays, lackluster libraries, and minor upgrades in graphics from the current generation I just don't see why anyone cares to upgrade right now.

This new generation launch looks like a hot mess on both sides. I think the smart people are going to wait it out because these launches look terrible.

I'm waiting at least until halo 5 comes out to get an xbox one. I may eventually get a PS4, but I won't pay for PSN+ unless I have a lot of money in a couple of years. I'm buying the WiiU in a couple of months most likely.

@RossRichard:

Every launch except for the Dreamcast that is. Original Xbox launch wasn't too shabby either. But unfortunately everybody fell for the PS 2 hype.

1st, with Killzone:SF on the PS4 and Ryse on the Xbox One, the new consoles are bringing graphics that are orders of magnitude better than current gen systems.

2nd, these are launch titles. The developers didn't have access to final hardware/drivers during large portions of development and the nuances of each system are still being figured out.

We're going to have to wait until E3 2014 to really see what the systems are capable of. There, we will hopefully see next-gen exclusive titles which have been under development on final hardware/drivers during the majority of their development.

Personally, I'm waiting on Halo 5 and the next Naughty Dog/Santa Monica titles to see what the systems are REALLY capable of.

It'll probably be two years before the consoles get a price drop (assuming they sell well), and when they do get a price drop it'll probably be $100 off.

$100 over the course of two years, even if the only thing you play are multiplats (half of which are just upgraded last-gen games), is not that much money.

Thought the games look great, and I've never had so many games on a system launch that I want. It's great that you think it is lack luster, but I recall far far worse on systems like the PSX, PS2, or even the N64 (one great game, is still just one game... Of two possible titles I'll add).

Yeah, you should always wait about 2 years before buying a console. Except for the Dreamcast. That hit the ground running and kept up a good sprint for a year and a half. Too bad not enough people noticed :(

It's kind of always been this way. It's just, you want the new thing. Rationality is increasingly winning me over though. Might jump off the fence.

Goodie, more for me.

Albeit I've resold all my X1 consoles already. They sold admirably. Wish I had preordered more.

I believe both Microsoft and Sony(especially Sony) will put out some games that will be worth purchasing the system for.

Although right now I'm holding out on buying them. Just doesn't justify the price.

I do agree with them being a bit weak on the graphics department side. I am pleased with what I've seen so far(Ryse and Shadowfall), but nothing that blows me away like last gen did. Who knows, they might put out titles that will.

I'm buying the PS4 at launch, just to experience the thrill of buying a console at launch. I'm aware it may have some issues, but I have PC/PS3/Wiiu/360 and 3DS as well, so I wont be hurting for games.

My early adopteritis is acting up and it's making me want to get the PS4 i pre-ordered, but my good sense is telling me not to bother.

Alternatively i could put the money towards another 780 or an Oculus Rift, hmmm decisions decisions.

I want to see the state of the PS4 after a year and then I'll start thinking about new hardware. Honestly though, you'd want a lot more than what they're showing now. I'm not impressed by so called next generation games that can be played on current console hardware.

The delay of Watch Dogs was a huge body blow for these new consoles. For everyone really.

I'm waiting till they make purely exclusive "must have" games. Considering many games will still have a last gen version, it's not that all compelling.
