Ok so ever since the first Xbox One reveal, MS has been getting torn apart left and right by people around the internet and I don't really think it's deserved. Lets go over the issues:

-The infamous 24 hour online check-in

-To be quite frank, I don't really get the problem here. Most next gen games focus on making their experience online (Look at The Crew, The Division, Watch Dogs) . All of these games have exclsuive features that require the internet to function. 90% of people who are complaining about it actually have a stable internet connection, and are literally just complaining for kicks. If you do not have internet in your are, or it is un-stable, then perhaps the PS4 is a superior choice. But this check in is not evil, hell, Im mainly a PC gamer and I can't play very many games if im offline for even a minute.

-Used games/Lending games problems

- As far as I know, the X1 does support used games. You can trade them in. The only actual issue here that I cannot combat is only being able to give a game to a friend once, and then not being able to give it again. This system actually is broken, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to hand my game off to a friend so he can enjoy it. Im hoping for them to adjust this system.

As for the hardware and pricing details, I look at it like this...

The only reason Im not getting the PS4 is because Im just not really in to Sony exclusives. Every generation I always end up spending more time on my Xbox than my Sony console (which served exclusively as a Blu-ray player this gen). I love the Xbox controller, the interface, Xbox Live. Sony may have a stronger console at a lower price point, but for me it just doesn't make much sense. I have a gaming PC much stronger than either console, if I want graphics I can go there. I want the X1 for the exclusives, and believe it or not, the Kinect 2.0 and the Cloud.

Everyone is overlooking the Kinect and the Cloud, but these are two things that the X1 is trying to innovate with. The new Kinect sensor is amazing, there is a reason you are paying more money to get it. It is actually a technological masterpiece that works in light, dark, sitting, laying down, etc. It can track up to SIX people and comes fitted with an HD camera and a high quality microphone that cancels out other sounds and hears only your voice. I know none of you are wow'd by Kinect games, but the potential behind it is there. The ability to maybe swing your arm to throw a grenade or perhaps a Mass Effect like conversation with a team mate where your facial expressions can be read. So much can be done with this, my examples seems small and insignificant, but it really opens the door for what people are pushing. Maybe the day will come where you can map game controls to voice and motion gestures, freeing up controller buttons for other functions.

The Cloud may have been exaggerated by MS but its still great. Games like Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive simply could not be possible without it. The cloud allows for them to be constantly drawing information in and out of the cloud, this means persistent, constantly changing and evolving worlds every single time you turn on your game. Look at what Forza is doing with the cloud, it is literally memorizing your every move and creating an AI who plays like you play. That way, you can run into friends when they aren't even home, and they will still be trying to piss you off the same way.

I guess what im saying is that everyone is so negative, but only because they are used to what Sony is offering. People don't like change, Microsoft decided to risk it this time. They're trying to push a different experience, while I feel that Sony's console is really just pushing to be a PC.

This is just my opinion, I don't hate Sony or their console, I just think people are giving MS a rough go. Mind you, it's mostly MS's fault, because they are not properly showcasing what makes their console special. E3 was all about games for gamers, but wait till we see more of what the X1 is trying to do!

you are trying to spin into a positive what i think is the worst anti consumer product ever to be released, no. just no. Xbone is made for the companies not the consumers, and everytime this happens, the people are the ones that lose.

i dunno, just from a glance, if what you don't believe to be huge issues apparently are very important to everyone else, maybe you're under reacting.

my only issue is the price. halfway through sony's e3 conference i was resolved to buying the xbox one until they released the price. i'm lightweight insulted that ms even had the balls to put a $499.99 price tag on the x1. with that said, i would get it day 1 if they match sony's price before launch.

I agree with you, i think people are just upset about the sharing aspect of it but there are ways around it. Just tag up with an individual who you will trade with, not tough to do. Secondly why is it that sony can shove a $600 bluray disc down everyones throat and be called innovative yet MS goes away from using media and using storage and internet as the way to sell games and they are called greedy? I just dont get the thought process in here. Apple has been doing this for years with itunes and everyone loves them or believe they are the best ever and MS does something similar and they are evil and greedy. Eventually discs will go away and MS is just the first to take the step towards the future in the console world.

The 24-hour thing is a little too much for my taste. There is really no good reason why your console should be rendered useless for not being able to connect online. Thats the only issue I have with it other than the price tag. Also, while I personally like Kinect, it really shouldn't be forced on consumers.

That can go both ways(although I agree his response was immature)I've seen just as many lame MS fanboy comments! Now...currently I own both a PS3 and 360 and I'm happy with both systems but I knew I wasn't going to be able to do the same next-gen.

It was either going to be one or the other the next time around so I wanted to see what both consoles had to offer in general. MS clearly chose the casuals over it's core base and even the most die-hard can't be in denial about that.

I'm not loyal to either one of those rich bastards but sony was smart enough to not face-palm is corebase. It's going dog-fight and MS still has a shot, but at least for now sony has the edge.

MS completely lost sight of their customers' tastes and wishes. They spent four years working on a machine that undid all of the goodwill they had built up with gamers over more than A decade and honestly never saw it coming. With the amount of money gamers spend on console hardware and software, it reasonable they expect their platform of choice to be at least somewhat in tune with their gaming tastes and needs. MS deserves everything they are getting ATM.

Normal people wouldn't defend them like you do, and yes, this topics have been talked to death, and the arguments are pretty much the same. DRM = I always online anyway, who gives a fvck about others who don't have reliable internet or just simply want to have a CHOICE. Used games = but you can still trade and lend game to friend once, MS will fix this (you know they won't) The heck is the cloud? Nobody knows, it's the cell of this generation. And what have we learned about the cell? it's bullshit.

Do you think compact discs are going to be around forever? Did you boycott the ipod when it came out? All they are doing is going digital. Yes unfortunately there is more control with this route but it is going to happen eventually anyway you slice it.

The Xbox One is the single most anti-consumer console to ever grace the industry. It literally wreaks of greed and selfishness. The Xbox One was designed to f*ck the consumer as hard and dry as humanly possible when it comes to it's restrictions. Literally, every single feature that the Xbox One brings to the table is a restriction.

Anyone who buys or openly supports the Xbox One has no right to call themselves a gamer and they have no right to complain about the state of gaming.

Do tell, what benefit is it to the gamer in a single player situation? It's the gaming equivalent to the waiter standing at your table giving you a dirty look to make sure you don't dine and dash. There is simply no defending it. My iPod doesn't need to connect to iTunes once a day or else it becomes a useless brick. The fact I have Internet doesn't mean I have good Internet. It's a joke to think if my Internet went down, Microsoft wouldn't allow me to play my own fvcking property after a set period of time.

Im defending the fact that we aren't even losing that much:

-Games can be traded in

-Internet connection required but a connection is required for most next gen games anyway. Games like The Crew thrive off of being all online, co-op/pvp, open world games. If the majority of games need internet to be awesome, then why not always be connected. The 24 hr thing means jack, you're already connected everyday!

What exactly are they "taking away from us"?

You just literally pull this out of your rear. Yeah you have internet already no big deal? What if my internet service run out? What if I wanna bring my console with me on a vacation? It's not just the matter of having internet or not, it's the matter of consumer right and convenience.

Well you know they won't, keep hoping though, if it helps.

Yeah I know the cloud, I just have no idead what is TEH CLOUD that they keep mentioning every 5 second, power of this and that, with little to no explaination. Yeah we have this feature, because of teh cloud; or teh cloud can enhance graphics and shit. Fvck if I know what it is.

The fact that there are people trying to defend Microsoft's choices is baffling to me.

Dude, the bottom line is that we should have a choice and MS is pretty much taking that away from us.

Crypt_mx

And he's defending that, despicable.

:| are you for real? It's a fact that most of the best games this gen are singleplayer with a tackle of online MP served as cherry on top. And no, games don't need internet to be awesome, not at the moment, and probably never.

24 check in online: THAT is the only way you can play game on that system. They take away your choice, your freedom as a gamer.

[QUOTE="rjdofu"] Normal people wouldn't defend them like you do, and yes, this topics have been talked to death, and the arguments are pretty much the same. And what have we learned about the cell? it's bullshit.rjdofu

"Normal people" don't put words in other peoples mouths. I said that if you have internet already its no big deal, if you don't have stable internet the PS4 should be your choice. Please learn to read. Another misquote here, I never said MS would fix the game lending system, I am hoping for it but not expecting it. If you don't know what a cloud is then im sorry you obviously know too little about tech.

"90% of people who are complaining about it actually have a stable internet connection, and are literally just complaining for kicks."

You just literally pull this out of your rear. Yeah you have internet already no big deal? What if my internet service run out? What if I wanna bring my console with me on a vacation? It's not just the matter of having internet or not, it's the matter of consumer right and convenience.

Ok so 90% isnt a real number, but the statement is remains true. But like I CLEARLY stated, if you do not have internet then you should probably get a PS3. If you want to go on vacation why would you be playing an Xbox? Enjoy your vacation away from it. IF you really wanted to bring it you could always do the online check on Wi-Fi(its everywhere) or through a wireless hotspot on a phone.

Ok I will keep hoping!

You're right the cloud is un-explained currently, but they have time to expand on that. E3 was soley about games, im sure they will dig in to the specifics of the Xbox itselff soon. I also stated in my original post that MS has been doing a pretty bad job of highlighting the features, mostly because they were so thrown off by the response to the reveal and just wanted to announce games to please people.

The 24-hour thing is a little too much for my taste. There is really no good reason why your console should be rendered useless for not being able to connect online. Thats the only issue I have with it other than the price tag. Also, while I personally like Kinect, it really shouldn't be forced on consumers.

xscrapzx

How can it be too much? Does your current console not at least connect to the internet at least one time when you use it during the day?

Honestly, i'm always connected online when i'm playing it. But I still find comfort in knowing that if i'm not able to be online, I can still use it.

MS strips that away from me while giving nothing in return for tolerating it. I'd be far more willing to #dealwithit if they would at least make online play free as a tradeoff for it.

Did you even watch E3? Most of Ubi's new games are doing this. Both The Crew and The Division are singleplayer/multiplayer experiences. Watch dogs is better when you're online too, allowing you to interact with other peoples worlds. I would go over more examples buy you should just watch the conferences. Game after game they are announcing new online features, thats the focus, online. The online world is the new focus of gaming, look at CoD that sells crazy every year just for its multiplayer.

There were honestly so many titles that are pushing for online features being integrated into the single player. Sooner or later people who don't have internet are going to be playing games with missing pieces, or at least that is how its looking.

24 check in online= it will never check-in for me because im always online, for me, this means nothing.

The point is, why the hell should we have to? What benefit is it to us? (Answer:none)

And man, even if I had a phone with a fast enough connection to appease big brother MS, that's just how I want to wreck my data limit.

Crypt_mx

Despite the wall of text I read it and I concur with much of what you said. I'm still torn. I go back and forth between the PS4 and Xbone. Sony's conference last night actually has me leaning back to the Xbone. The criticisms people have of MS just don't affect me in any way as a consumer so it is not a concern to me.

Once a person buys something, they deserve absolute freedom to do whatever they want with it. Even if it's illegal, they still should be afforded that right. With the 24 hour check-in and the disc restrictions, your placing boundaries and limits on that freedom. That's when the freedom is gone. People are willing to overlook a restrictions if it doesn't affect them, but those restrictions affect a lot of gamers.

Honestly, it doesn't have much of a benefit to us, I just don't think its that bad either. Since my console will primarily be at home and online the online check is just something it does, it means nothing to me. The reason the check in even exists is because most people modded xbox 360's and just stayed offline playing free games. Now you can't do that because it wont play games unless you check in. The check in is literally only there to make sure you're not toying with the system. It is unfair that some people are screwed by the xbox just because of pirates, but again, this doesnt effect me because i have stable internet.

I just offered those alternatives if you really wanted to use it on vacation or something, its not so crazy hard to scan for wifi and connect for a half second.

This is what im saying. Im not a brainless xbox fan or a sony hater, the "issues" just dont affect me either.

I think that people are having the appropriate reaction. There really is nothing redeeming about the machine.
