Ok so ever since the first Xbox One reveal, MS has been getting torn apart left and right by people around the internet and I don't really think it's deserved. Lets go over the issues:
-The infamous 24 hour online check-in
-To be quite frank, I don't really get the problem here. Most next gen games focus on making their experience online (Look at The Crew, The Division, Watch Dogs) . All of these games have exclsuive features that require the internet to function. 90% of people who are complaining about it actually have a stable internet connection, and are literally just complaining for kicks. If you do not have internet in your are, or it is un-stable, then perhaps the PS4 is a superior choice. But this check in is not evil, hell, Im mainly a PC gamer and I can't play very many games if im offline for even a minute.
-Used games/Lending games problems
- As far as I know, the X1 does support used games. You can trade them in. The only actual issue here that I cannot combat is only being able to give a game to a friend once, and then not being able to give it again. This system actually is broken, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to hand my game off to a friend so he can enjoy it. Im hoping for them to adjust this system.
As for the hardware and pricing details, I look at it like this...
The only reason Im not getting the PS4 is because Im just not really in to Sony exclusives. Every generation I always end up spending more time on my Xbox than my Sony console (which served exclusively as a Blu-ray player this gen). I love the Xbox controller, the interface, Xbox Live. Sony may have a stronger console at a lower price point, but for me it just doesn't make much sense. I have a gaming PC much stronger than either console, if I want graphics I can go there. I want the X1 for the exclusives, and believe it or not, the Kinect 2.0 and the Cloud.
Everyone is overlooking the Kinect and the Cloud, but these are two things that the X1 is trying to innovate with. The new Kinect sensor is amazing, there is a reason you are paying more money to get it. It is actually a technological masterpiece that works in light, dark, sitting, laying down, etc. It can track up to SIX people and comes fitted with an HD camera and a high quality microphone that cancels out other sounds and hears only your voice. I know none of you are wow'd by Kinect games, but the potential behind it is there. The ability to maybe swing your arm to throw a grenade or perhaps a Mass Effect like conversation with a team mate where your facial expressions can be read. So much can be done with this, my examples seems small and insignificant, but it really opens the door for what people are pushing. Maybe the day will come where you can map game controls to voice and motion gestures, freeing up controller buttons for other functions.
The Cloud may have been exaggerated by MS but its still great. Games like Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive simply could not be possible without it. The cloud allows for them to be constantly drawing information in and out of the cloud, this means persistent, constantly changing and evolving worlds every single time you turn on your game. Look at what Forza is doing with the cloud, it is literally memorizing your every move and creating an AI who plays like you play. That way, you can run into friends when they aren't even home, and they will still be trying to piss you off the same way.
I guess what im saying is that everyone is so negative, but only because they are used to what Sony is offering. People don't like change, Microsoft decided to risk it this time. They're trying to push a different experience, while I feel that Sony's console is really just pushing to be a PC.Â
This is just my opinion, I don't hate Sony or their console, I just think people are giving MS a rough go. Mind you, it's mostly MS's fault, because they are not properly showcasing what makes their console special. E3 was all about games for gamers, but wait till we see more of what the X1 is trying to do!
