Im defending the fact that we aren't even losing that much:
-Games can be traded in
-Internet connection required but a connection is required for most next gen games anyway. Games like The Crew thrive off of being all online, co-op/pvp, open world games. If the majority of games need internet to be awesome, then why not always be connected. The 24 hr thing means jack, you're already connected everyday!
What exactly are they "taking away from us"?Â
Crypt_mx
:| are you for real? It's a fact that most of the best games this gen are singleplayer with a tackle of online MP served as cherry on top. And no, games don't need internet to be awesome, not at the moment, and probably never.
24 check in online: THAT is the only way you can play game on that system. They take away your choice, your freedom as a gamer.
Did you even watch E3? Most of Ubi's new games are doing this. Both The Crew and The Division are singleplayer/multiplayer experiences. Watch dogs is better when you're online too, allowing you to interact with other peoples worlds. I would go over more examples buy you should just watch the conferences. Game after game they are announcing new online features, thats the focus, online. The online world is the new focus of gaming, look at CoD that sells crazy every year just for its multiplayer.
There were honestly so many titles that are pushing for online features being integrated into the single player. Sooner or later people who don't have internet are going to be playing games with missing pieces, or at least that is how its looking.
24 check in online= it will never check-in for me because im always online, for me, this means nothing.
Online feature =/= online focus. It may enhances the experience (or it may not), but it's something that gamers can live without (unless you're talking about games like Spark). My point still stands, most of the best games are SP focus without any touch of MP. lol @ citing CoD, you're pretty funny. There're many genre that just not gonna work that way aka: hack&slash, adventure, horror, etc. Yeah right, "sooner or later" aka. not now, probably in a long long time; who knows. By that time you're talking about, internet might have become a standard already, and all of these points are invalid at that time. But then again, not now. We only discuss what available to us now, not in the unknown future. Yeah means nothing to you. Means a lot to others. You opened a thread to discuss how people are overreacting over this, yet you can only talk about yourself, that's pretty weak.I agree with the OP. Most of the games at the Sony conference that I am interested in are going to be multiplat (FF15 anyone? AWWW YEAHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT!). Indie games tend to never arouse my interest at all, so big deal if they are better at courting the indies. I don't have internet issues, so this 24 hour thing will hardly if ever affect me. I have subscription based music for the most part (although it is only once per 30 days), so it really isn't that big of a deal. I hardly ever buy used games. If there is a game I want, I tend to get it when it comes out.
With those big things being non-issues for me, it comes down to exclusives and what Square Enix is doing. MS had ton of new exclusives over the next year revealed, and SE is making FF15 multiplat. So, I will likely buy the X1. If that makes me a "non-gamer" then all I can say is whoever asserts such is a dumbass. I've been gaming for over two decades now beginning with the NES and Genesis. If it upsets you that much on what I buy, then just suck on a big dick and die.

Ok so ever since the first Xbox One reveal, MS has been getting torn apart left and right by people around the internet and I don't really think it's deserved. Lets go over the issues:
-The infamous 24 hour online check-in
-To be quite frank, I don't really get the problem here. Most next gen games focus on making their experience online (Look at The Crew, The Division, Watch Dogs) . All of these games have exclsuive features that require the internet to function. 90% of people who are complaining about it actually have a stable internet connection, and are literally just complaining for kicks. If you do not have internet in your are, or it is un-stable, then perhaps the PS4 is a superior choice. But this check in is not evil, hell, Im mainly a PC gamer and I can't play very many games if im offline for even a minute.
-Used games/Lending games problems
- As far as I know, the X1 does support used games. You can trade them in. The only actual issue here that I cannot combat is only being able to give a game to a friend once, and then not being able to give it again. This system actually is broken, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to hand my game off to a friend so he can enjoy it. Im hoping for them to adjust this system.
As for the hardware and pricing details, I look at it like this...
The only reason Im not getting the PS4 is because Im just not really in to Sony exclusives. Every generation I always end up spending more time on my Xbox than my Sony console (which served exclusively as a Blu-ray player this gen). I love the Xbox controller, the interface, Xbox Live. Sony may have a stronger console at a lower price point, but for me it just doesn't make much sense. I have a gaming PC much stronger than either console, if I want graphics I can go there. I want the X1 for the exclusives, and believe it or not, the Kinect 2.0 and the Cloud.
Everyone is overlooking the Kinect and the Cloud, but these are two things that the X1 is trying to innovate with. The new Kinect sensor is amazing, there is a reason you are paying more money to get it. It is actually a technological masterpiece that works in light, dark, sitting, laying down, etc. It can track up to SIX people and comes fitted with an HD camera and a high quality microphone that cancels out other sounds and hears only your voice. I know none of you are wow'd by Kinect games, but the potential behind it is there. The ability to maybe swing your arm to throw a grenade or perhaps a Mass Effect like conversation with a team mate where your facial expressions can be read. So much can be done with this, my examples seems small and insignificant, but it really opens the door for what people are pushing. Maybe the day will come where you can map game controls to voice and motion gestures, freeing up controller buttons for other functions.
The Cloud may have been exaggerated by MS but its still great. Games like Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive simply could not be possible without it. The cloud allows for them to be constantly drawing information in and out of the cloud, this means persistent, constantly changing and evolving worlds every single time you turn on your game. Look at what Forza is doing with the cloud, it is literally memorizing your every move and creating an AI who plays like you play. That way, you can run into friends when they aren't even home, and they will still be trying to piss you off the same way.
I guess what im saying is that everyone is so negative, but only because they are used to what Sony is offering. People don't like change, Microsoft decided to risk it this time. They're trying to push a different experience, while I feel that Sony's console is really just pushing to be a PC.Â
This is just my opinion, I don't hate Sony or their console, I just think people are giving MS a rough go. Mind you, it's mostly MS's fault, because they are not properly showcasing what makes their console special. E3 was all about games for gamers, but wait till we see more of what the X1 is trying to do!

-no, it is unacceptable that i have to check in with microsoft every 24 h to ask permission to play my games that i already paid for. I will never support companies becoming more and more intrusive. And the pc games part is pure bs, i wanted to stop reading when i got to that part, what the hell are you talking about, i can still play ALL my single player games offline. Somehow i feel fanboys are throwing pc mmorpgs to make the xbone look less bad.
-As for used games i don't really care but i know many that will and still, cant support a company that wants to dictate what i do with the things that i ALREADY OWN AND PAID FOR. Having to do some bs steps on xbl just to lend a friend a game ROFL.
-bla bla fanboy talk, thats personal i prefer ps exclusives by far. The games are very personal, if you havent played games like uncharted, last of us, mgs 4, ni no kuni and so on, your choise. The only game that kind of interests me from xbox is halo and i can hardly stand fps.
-Couldn't care less about kinect, if people want it they should have the option to buy or not. They spend so much money in marketing and developing just to be a failure thaat now they want to shove it to everyone. Like xbl and kinect, it SHOULD BE OPTIONAL. Why does anyone have to focefully pay for it? Do you think its awesome, well me and many people don't.
-TEH CLOUD is the bigges microsoft lie. There is no way any kind of 3d computing is done real time through the internet simply because its too slow. PERIOD. Other than the integration games have with the internet since ever i don't see anything "innovative" about it.
So these changes you are talking about are drm and intrusion on their console, and dictating what i do and how i do with the games i already bought. And you think people should be ok with that
My only issue with it is with it being less powerful. I dont know how true that is, but if there's a noticable difference in performance/visuals that would steer me away permanently. And I shouldn't be? There are half a dozen people in here talking out of their ass about how if someone buys a certain item then they aren't considered gamers. That is such a ridiculous notion.

good for you if you don't have problems wityh their anti consumer policies. But then you should be able to see why people have problems with it, even if you don't, i will not support this corporative dream console, keep supporting them until they keep raising the bar on requiriments and money you have to pay to do anything on their console.Â
Can anybody explain on WHAT is the point in having a console with EXCLUSIVE games that you can play BUT NOT OWN (considering MS's policy that feels like your RENTING the games)? :|
[QUOTE="TecmoGirl"]How can it be too much? Does your current console not at least connect to the internet at least one time when you use it during the day? You have missed the point the issue is now how many people have a stable connection but how does a 24hs check improves consumers value. It doesn't do it in any way, same for "lending games system", how can you possibly defend it you are the customer and they are screwing you with no reason. I understand some Xbox owners may be fond of some exclusives and forced to buy an Xbox, but you cant be happy with it, that's madnessThe 24-hour thing is a little too much for my taste. There is really no good reason why your console should be rendered useless for not being able to connect online. Thats the only issue I have with it other than the price tag. Also, while I personally like Kinect, it really shouldn't be forced on consumers.

Exactly.. I would preorder one, but there is no way in hell that I'm going to support a system that requires me to get permission to play MY videogame console that I paid for....You are trying to spin into a positive what i think is the worst anti consumer product ever to be released, no. just no. Xbone is made for the companies not the consumers, and everytime this happens, the people are the ones that lose.

No you don't. You can only trade them to retailers daddy says are OK, and what do you think will happen to all those games that need an authentication check once those servers are pulled? How can you own something the distributor can rip away that easily?nah I think people are reacting quite normally to such an anti consumer piece of shit.
when I read the reveal stuff I was disgusted, and the E3 conference did nothing to make me swallow the bile that rose up my throat from the Xbox dOne reveal.
If I hadn't been expecting it the Ps4 conference would have made me vomit at the sheer Ownage Sony brought down upon Microsoft.
Â
Most of the DRM stuff is annoying especially the 1 hour limit for using your account on someone else's console, but I can handle most of the stuff anyway. I haven't really decided if I want to buy the console yet, but the exclusives MS showed yesterday have pushed me a lot closer to buying that console.
Both consoles use the exact same CPU, and both consoles use the same generation of AMD graphics processing units. The only difference is that the GPU in the PS4 has 50% more horsepower than the GPU in the XBone, and for $100 cheaper. So yes, the PS4 will have better graphics from the very beggining of this generation, unlike with the PS2 and PS3. There isn't some secret shader technology that is going to make XBox games look better this time around...My only issue with it is with it being less powerful. I dont know how true that is, but if there's a noticable difference in performance/visuals that would steer me away permanently. I can wait a year for the price to come down and my Internet is on 99.99% of the time so I couldnt care less about 24 hour check ins. I'll end up getting both consoles in the end, but probably going to start with the PS4 in spring/summer 2014 and maybe Xbox that holiday season or early 2015.

People are definitely overreacting about the 24 hour check in. I went into EB today to preorder the PS4 and the guy cashing me out was freaking out about the check in. Complaining that servers are going to crash like Sim City. It doesn't help when the people selling preorders are making it sound like an always online DRM console. Either way, the preorders for Xb1 did sell out at that store.
