Watch out here come the XBOX monkeys from the trees!!
But I agree with you, I've played tons on it, no lag, dedicated servers, and best of all it's free. It does exactly what I want it to, to let me play video games online. Not make avatars and list my e-achievments to attempt to show off to nerds online of which no one will see them anyway, or much less care.

They think just because they pay all the $$$ to Microsoft, that makes their service magically better.

judging from your posting history, i fail to see how you came to your conclusions that PSN is a greater service than XBL through any objective means.
how would you notice any of those things if you've never even used XBL before?TheDarkDisciple
I had a 360 last year for a full year. I used XBL plenty, trust me. And in comparison, XBL has a more extensive online store, and more little community features. But if I could trade those useless features and achievments which don't give me anything but little pictures of trophies next to a achievment description and some of the weird extra content in the marketplace for a free online service that performs just as well as the XBL's service (underneath all the extras) I would pick PSN any day. I never used the extra stuff XBL gave me, I just wanted to play games online and that's what PSN does, for free.

To shattered's comment, no the monkeys, cows, trolls and lemmings will definately keep this puppy running. This is a total fire starter thread.
BUT, to the quote. I'd like to see proof of where 'EVERYONE' knows its better. I want a online service that allows dedicated servers and for me to play my games online with no lag. PSN provides that. You XBOX people are paying your $15 a month just to have the ability to create e-avatars and showcase your video game achievments that no one will look at anyway. I want a service that allows me to play games for free, I don't want an avatar with trophies. And as a online GAMING service, PSN performs the same as XBL, XBL is no better or worse as an actual service for online gaming itself.
Achivements are for losers imo.

Okay. And if that was Sony's idea you'd be all over it and citing it as a reason PSN is so much better. Having had experience playing on both, Xbox Live is light years better. That's not to say PSN can't improve, but Xbox Live is a way better online service right now.Achivements are for losers imo.

Anyone who says they haven't suffered from lag with either service is talking out of the wrong orifice. Lag doesn't magically disappear when you add dedicated servers, nor do all PS3 games have dedicated servers. PBSnipes

I dont know what the prices are monthly. I remember I signed up for a full year and it was $59.95.

He's not citing that XBL is stupid because of achievments. He's saying, which I agree to, that you guys are paying your monthly fees simply for achievments. Whereas PSN provides everything XBL does, as an online GAMING service, which lets not forget is the entire point, for FREE. You are paying your fees merely for the extra little features, not for a better gaming service itself.

so you mean $5/month. also, only a few games on PSN even use dedicated servers. and also, achievements have nothing to do with XBL. you can get achievements without ever going on line at all. same with gamer pics. those are free features of xbox games, not xbox live.

It's not, but you pay more if you sign up for a monthly basis. You should know this. 60 for a year is 5 bucks a month. That's how they get you to sign up for a long time instead of a couple months and then dropping the service. It's always more for month to month basis.

Maybe its because you haven't had the chance to use it, but I think you're ignoring the most important aspect of Xbox Live- the community features. The ease with which you can invite a friend into a game, or join their game in progress is awesome. Its just so easy to coordinate things and make sure you're always playing with friends, makes the experience more enjoyable. It feels more like a connected community than PSN. I could care less about dashboard themes, gamer pictures, and all that jazz, but its definitely some nice icing for people who are into it. But connectivity and community are the main reasons Xbox Live is so great.Achievements help to give a game playability. If you actually knew what you were talking about you would be aware of this.Achievements as I said are for losers that want to look like hardcore gamers so they build up this huge gamerscore picking up easy achievements and it makes them feel badass.

20 bucks says this kid spends at least 100 hours playing around with HOME
It's the same thing that M$ is doing with Zune. Charging you to basically RENT music. And once you stop paying for it you can't listen to it anymore. Sure it sounds great that you pay a fee and month and can listen to as much music as you want but as soon as you stop paying your fee you realize it's just as BS as leasing a car, you are left with nothing in the end. M$ wants to squeeze every penny out of you. So they add these small features to make their service look like it's worth paying for. In the end, the fact that I have to pay for internet service and then pay for another service to play the games that I have already spent $60 on to their full extent is just bullsh*t. JaptainCackYou're saying it like MS was the first company to come out with a music subscription service. :|

small features like cross game chat and XMB, something PSN still doesn't have?
Microsoft just likes screwing their customers with additional fees as much as they possibly can (HD DVD add on, wi-fi adaptor, live, etc.).briand07
yes because a 250 euro handheld, a 600 euro console with half-%ssed BC and shoving blu-ray and UMD down our throats isnt screwing up the consumer
