I wouldnt just say only MS milks there consumers, because all them are milking us but yes MS is prolly milking most of there consumers the most and is quite obvious. Do u think they care though? No because they know loyal fanboys will buy it and maybe even users that dont own an xbox360, but for consumers who dont own one yet, may think its cheap but I think MS already knows that who ever buys the elite will prolly end up buying an hd-dvd addon just to milk them more, which would cost consumers more to buy an elite with an addon hd-dvd then a ps3, and the ps3 still has more features in it and is the better deal. It could go both ways but I think with elite, MS has shot themselves in the foot and just opened up more peoples eyes to look towards a ps3, and will be MS is biggest mistake for trying to screw there consumers and come out with a new one to try an compete with the ps3.

I think lemmings can be the biggest hypocrites on this forum. Yall say that MS isn't milking its fans with the 360 Elite because they aren't making you buy it, but then yall say Nintendo is milking its fans with VC titles. Well last time I checked, Nintendo isn't making anyone buy those VC games, so I guess it's not milking going by yalls logic.

All I have to say is that in less than a year and a half, MS has released 3 different versions of the 360 and the generation isn't even close to being over. Do you honestly think MS won't release another 1 or 2 versions before this generation is over?

I think they're milking the fanbase in terms of the wireless nic. That's the only device that really stands out for me. That should be standard on the console. 

The new 360 version isn't milkage unless you're stupid enough to upgrade to it (although it is overpriced). The real milkage is the fact that the separate 120GB HDD upgrade costs $180, while you can find generic HDDs to upgrade a PS3 to 120GB for $80. And the Wifi.... $100 for that is a load of crap for anyone who needs it. MS doesn't charge as much as Sony for the console, but don't take the price at face since the average person is going to spend far more on service fees and accessories for the 360 in the end.

 No one has the brains to figure out that milking is when a company forces a consumer to buy a product (by "force" I mean not give the consumer little to no alternatives). Microsoft is not forcing the buyer to purchase the elite and/or other accessories. Sony, as we all know, forced Blue-Ray. That's milking. Please, just because you like the PS3, doesn't mean your not being milked and the Microsoft fanboys are. It's the other way around. Basically MS realise there's a need for HDMI and bigger storage otherwise it wouldn't have been announced. Even those who don't NEED the HDMI and bigger storage may still actually buy one anyway. MS knows this - hence they can effectively score points with the videophiles AND at the same time get even more money from it's existing fanbase who are 'upgrading' (though I shudder to use that word).

Besides, the mere existence of the 'Elite' puts into question MS's own statements that HDMI and large storage wouldn't be needed. And as I have said before, it's all very well and good offering 'options' to consumers but shouldn't have this been available from the start? That way early adopters may not feel to disillusioned about buying a Premium 360 early on.

Do you really want 5 or more different versions of the 360 on the market? I don't know why people aren't annoyed by this. Instead of releasing a new 360 every year (exaggerating) with a few new added features on each one, why not just make one that has it all? Well if they made one console that had it all, at launch, maybe it would be too expensive for the consumer. Maybe the company doesn't want to take a larger loss per console. Maybe their strategy at the time was different, maybe it changed 6 months into the release of the console and a hardware revision would be necessary. Before the Elite 360 was announced, the last meaningful 360 announcement was IPTV. For IPTV, large hard drive space will be absolutely necessary. To me, that is the real reason why the Elite was released - to offer the consumer a 360 with a very large hard drive that is "IPTV compatible." Since it is a new SKU, Microsoft decided to throw in an HDMI port for good measure. Heck, they may as well. The Elite is about the hard drive and the color change more than anything else and when you compare it to the Premium it's a pretty good value.

About the 5 or so different 360 versions on the market you spoke of, about if I would care or not, I personally would not care as long as every 360 game released can be played on each and every hardware version.

The only way I would mind is if Microsoft releases a new 360 with built-in HD DVD or Blu-Ray and then they start making games on that media. Then I would mind. That is truly separating your fan base and screwing over people who already bought the console because now they're going to have to buy the console AGAIN with the new drive just so they can play the latest, greatest games. But since Microsoft is not doing this, I am not annoyed at all.

 I have a 360 with a 1080p Sony Bravia LCD that has 2 HDMI ports. I do NOT care that my current 360 doesent have HDMI. I'm quite happy with VGA since I seriously find HDMI to be overated. Even if I had the elite 360, I'd still use VGA because I already use HDMI for my digital cable box and the other port will eventually be used by either HD-DVD\Blu-Ray stand-alone or a PS3 since as far as I know Ps3 doesent support VGA while it supports HDMI. Can't have PS3, 360 and cable box all plugged into HDMI at once since theres only 2 ports.
