This is just getting pathetic... blu-ray movie sales = ownage? Do you have any idea how much the DVD sold itself to compare to blu-ray?

Why yes, yes I do.

And if TC bothered reading his own link he would realize it also says:

While it's not on par with the 13 million standard DVDs of THE DARK KNIGHT that were sold,

Which kind of puts the BD sales into proper perspective :)

It is funny how gamers are incapable of doing math. Maybe if they spent less time training to become a crimninal with Halo, Gears of War, and Grand Theft Auto, they would know what 10 percent of 13 million is.

I bought it on Blu-Ray and it was awesome (It'd be awesome on DVD as well, but Blu-Ray will add to its longevity). But I have to say The Dark Knight is to Blu-Ray as The Matrix was to DVD.

There's always an exception to the rule. TDK is that exception. Considering the massive hype surrounding that film and the equally massive marketing campaign, I'm not surprised at all. Hell, even I bought it on Blu Ray and I never buy Blu Ray movies (aside from the ones I got at GameStop when they were buy 2 get 2 free).

sorry, 'about 10%' not 'less than'

also, why would i divide it into the number of DVD's sold and not total units? 14.7million would be the total, not 13 million. looks like your math aint so good either

And you care about this...why?

Seriosuly what possible reason could you have to be delighted that the Blu Ray version of a film sold well?

Real PS3 owners would never lower themselves by becoming "gamers". Here is what a real PS3 collection looks like http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa276/Windurst/bluray.jpg

For a BD to have 10% of total sales is VERY impressive when you consider that Blu-ray's marketshare is less than 5%. This is rare, though, normally it's nowhere near 10%.

Blu-ray is the successor to DVD, just as DVD was the successor to VCD, which was the successor to VHS. If you want to compare, you need to compare TDK DVD sales to Standard Definition digital downloads of TDK and Blu-ray sales of TDK to High Definition Digital Downloads of TDK... By the way, it would be... DVD = 13 million SD Digital Download = 0 Blu-ray = 1.7 million HD DIgital Download = 0

because it means blu-ray is doing well, and is here to stay, and that my ps3's built in blu-ray player won't become obsolete anytime soon...kinda like that $200 add-on hd-dvd player for 360.

What's so great about The Dark Knight anyways? I mean it was pretty good, but not as good as people say it is. The Joker is awesome, but I just could not get over that stupid voice Batman would use!

quote for the loss, seriously i said this already. this isn't a blu-ray vs dvd battle. just posted this to prove that blu-rays aren't going to crash and burn like hd-dvd. its just proof that blu-ray is here to stay. and come on now, if you knew anything about this at al, you'd realize it is very impressive numbers.

Unlike Digital Distribution, which has failed to sell a single copy of TDK in either Standard Definition or High Definition (Lite)
