A few months ago, I created a thread on this forum that stated that I believed that Microsoft was going to launch their next-gen system this fall without us really realizing. My basis for this was that the system would be repackaged in a new case, with different but similarhardware components (just like the Wii was basically just a repackaged GameCube), it woul have a different control scheme, a new way to navigate the dashboard,a new dashboard, a

So what are we getting:

New hardware: New casing, Wi Fi out of the box, and a new cooling system

New controls: Kinect

New dashboard: Voice and motion recognition

New games: Unplayable on the previous version of the system, with a new launch line-up.

What do you all think now? I think we have seen the end of brand new console launches, and from now on, we will continue to see and iPod-like evolution of the consoles as time goes on.

As much as I love Wii jokes, there's no way you can reasonably argue the Wii is a repackaged Gamecube. It wouldn't be called "backwards compatibility" if it was the same system.Skittles_McGee

Well, a lot of people have suspected for some time that there would be a deal with kinect packaged in with Xbox 360. That being said, I wouldn't call it a new console.

Kinect is a peripheral. You can call it whatever you want in your deluded little world, but if you called up MS and asked "Yo, what's Kinect?" they'd reply "It's a peripheral, noob. " and hang up.

Oh and guys dont forget about the E-reader for the GBA and the GBA Player for the Gamecube or even the Gameboy Player for the SNES. Those are all new consoles too.

Was it me or did people claim that the Wii was 4 Gamecubes put together?

That's still a lot of power honestly and only a few games actually show that power.
