what consoles should I choose between Sony's and Microsoft's? this question is addressed mainly to those who own both consoles.

Software-wise I now it all comes down to preferences, but what can you tell me about the services, accessories and quality of the hardware in general?

this is what the xbox support answered to my query about the scratching discs issue:

"XboxSupport

There's no doubt we've had some challenges in the past. Those are behind us. We couldn't be more proud of this console.^SM"

IMO these kinds of threads should not be allowed here. Who is going to answer honestly?

the xbox support didn't really answer your question.. and yes, the new Slims still scratch discs if you move the console, there's a big sticker with the warning near the tray.

I really don't get why Microsoft didn't bother adding something that would prevent the scratching, once I got one of my discs scratched because I bumped against the table by accident. that was my fault of course, I made the console tilt ( from that moment on i put it horizontally ) , but this could be avoided simply adding some bumpers in the tray, but they didn't and it's stupid imo.

The threads themselves are usually a masked PS3 vs 360 thread. Games are what's important, go with that.

Either a Wii or PS3, but I prefer PS3. You can tilt your PS3 even when theres a disc inside. As for the 360....:P

you can do that with any system, in fact its not good to move the ps3 either or 360, they also have HDDs that are likely to have a head crash, or the cdrom eye gouge the cd

Just get both. Also, pick up a Wii. That is really the only REAL answer.

Even though I only own a 360 I can honestly say that at this point either one would be great. They both have all the support they need it really comes down to exclusives I guess. Which ever one has the exclusives that suit you the best is the one to go with. I can honestly say I wouldn't mind having a blu-ray player at this point considering it's not costing you anything extra and along with free online that is added value. They are both quality so thats not gonna help you decide. Really just comes down to your own personal taste in games I know that doesn't help much but it's really a toss up at this point. Sony's motion control tech also seems to be more fleshed out and better for more traditional games so maybe thats a factor if not just look at both libraries and figure out which is more appealing I guess.

I own both and while I play my 360 alot more then my PS3(mainly because I bought it first so already had a lot of games and experience with it bythe time I bought my PS3)I honeslty gotta say that your best bet would be to buy the PS3, overall its just the better console right now.
