I was listening to an IGN podcast yesterday and they said Uncharted is the best

...Looking console game this gen.

I agree with them definitely. It's extremely detailed, great visuals(Naughty Dog got the jungle scene perfectly), and it's animations are unmatched.

Yea I have Gears and the Uncharted Demo. Uncharted looks awesome but I still think Gears has it beat.

imo naughty dog has been extremly overrated i regret my purchases on crash bandicoot 1 and 2 both were horrible games an felt like shareware quality compared to nintendo's platformin games i have yet to try jak an dextrer series but i kno for a fact the crash bandicoot series was heavily flawedProtossRushX

Played Jak and Daxter for about an hour and couldn't carry on. Crash bandicoot 1 & 2 however, I found, were very good games for their time.

I had my friend over who owns a 360 and he loved the Uncharted demo. When it was over he asked if it was coming out on the 360.

Naughty Dog is consistent. Loved the crash games they did. Heck they even got the kart racing game to be awesome and few have been able to properly replicate the tried and true mario kart formula.

The jack series was their best work. From the introduction in part 1. To the sandbox gameplay in part 2. And 3 was just an epic finish that fixed all the little blips in part 2.

Naughty Dog is a crucial part of the Playstation platform. Every one of their releases is a big deal on the platform. Uncharted is no different.

You know whats real impressive in Uncharted? The weight of the character as you jump off ledges or hang from them. Its truly remarkable. Naughty Dog has platforming DOWN to a science. Its not mentioned often enough but when you play third party titles like The Simpsons game you truly missthat aspect to the platforming. Its often over looked but they really deserve credit.

I agree with this after the demo. This they do really well. Even the water effects on his clothing is just impressive.

im pretty sure mario 64 came out way b4 the crash bandicoot series

1 of my friends had a n64 an i used to go over to his house an play mario an mario kart 64 an have a blast an so i bought crash bandicoot an felt the game was so medicore an lame the story was just bad i like mario cuz they dont even try to throw in a crappy bad story they just let u play, an then the jumpin an moving around felt so generic like it was coded by a bunch of kids the whole game felt dead an basic the graphics looked ok but the way crash moved felt horrible compared to mario

the racing game is good but again it was no mario kart 64 or diddy kong racing

an ib ought the 2nd one cuz i wanted to see if they improvewd it an i the game felt the exact same but with better graphics

I thought so too...until I played Uncharted. Uncharted easily beats Gears. It's not even close.

Well it wasn't the regular IGN podcast (Gamescoop), it was the PS3's team podcast beyond so I wouldn't take their word as gospel. However I do hope Uncharted comes out good. I sold my 360 and plan to get a PS3 because of games like Uncharted (and Heavenly Sword and MGS 4). I much more of an action-adventure guy than a FPS guy.Zerostatic0

Ummm...before you try to cast doubt on their credibility, you should know that those guys are some of the PS3's biggest critics and most of them don't even own a PS3.

With that said, I don't want to discredit them, I love IGN's approach and I bet the opinions on Podcast Beyond are probably a lot closer to the opinions and taste of the people who really want the info (PS3 owners). It's the same way with the Matt and Bozon on IGN's Nintendo Wii team. I hate Gamespots' and 1up's Wii reviews and talk of the Wii on both the Hotspot and 1up yours because they do not have the same vested interest as I, a wii fan and owner. However Matt and Bozon's reviews and their discussions/debates in the Wii-k in review are much more enjoyable because they are written and discussed from the perspective of a Wii owner.

Anyways, my point is that to hear them saying on Podcast Beyond that Uncharted has the best graphics of any console game this gen is definitely not enough to convince me of that, if I heard it on something like 1up yours then I'd believe, and 1up yours has talked about the game at length in the past and while they've said it was a very good looking game, nobody said anything along the lines of it being the best looking console game and if it really was I'm sure they'd have said something. I'm sure it's gorgeous but best of this gen? Maybe it's argueable but definitely not definitive.

I have Gears on the PC right now, and Uncharted stomps it in visuals for sure. Remember this is the PC version that I have and Uncharted still looks better than it. This is coming from a person that played both games.

I think everyone is getting caught up in the bright pretty colors. They graphics are nice and pretty but to say they're the best out is a bit overboard. I don't think they better nor worse than GeOW or any other game out, excluding PC games of course.

I didnt' say it's the best out there did I? I said it's better than gears. Really, when I played Gears there wasn't the WOW factor. That's of course because I had played COD4 before and that seriously kills Gears as far as graphics go and possibly gameplay. Uncharted though has better graphics than Gears. Now, the game that stomps them all in Graphics is Crysis. as far as Environment go, I would give it to COD4.

If the game actually had a little light and a color that wasn't black or brown you would notice it.

Actually the Uncharted PAL demo blackscreen was better than GeOW.

While a 9 shows that they thought it was impressive, that's obviously not "best graphics of any console game" type of commentary. Like I said before, you can't take every word to heart when you're listening to a Playstation podcast by a group of guys whose main job is to cover the PS3.
