And for some reason everything was better than the first time I played it.

The gameplay was smoother.

The controls were tighter.

The game was prettier.

The levels were smarter.

The music was better.

I don't think I'll ever play a game as good as Nintendo's latest masterpiece.

I'm one of the few that didn't think Galaxy was the greatest thing ever. I still thought it was good and I'd give it an 8/10, but it just disappointed me somehow. I can't put my finger on what exactly disappointed me, it just felt like that.

Great game, and probably deserved the GOTY honors(although it's arguable with all of the other great ones in '07. I don't see it getting better on the second playthrough though, simply because it offered no real challenge on the first play. That's my only real complaint with the game....complete lack of challenge.

The only thing missing in Galaxy is a big open field to run around in.... it really needed it. If it had that... I would have given it a 10/10.

Really? I died hundreds of times. To the point of giving up on the game and turning off the Wii. I never game over'd (because there are 1-ups literally everywhere) but it was still about the same difficulty as SMS.

Yeah, it was a bit on the easy side, but I read somewhere where the developer was really trying to find the perfect balance so it could appeal to the old school hardcore gamer and the brand new casual gamer. Personally, the difficulty was too easy for me, but generally, I think the difficulty was just right.

Yeah, this was also my GOTY of 2007.

SMG is a big fat 10/10 for me. It's a delightful piece of art in terms of visuals, level design and gameplay. It's just about as perfect as a Mario game could get. I just didn't get into SPring Mario a whole lot and that could be my only complaint. This game is as good as they come and they don't make 'em like this anymore. Nintendo reached the pinnacle.

Galaxy felt like a little kids game to me because it was way too easy and linear, Sunshine and 64 were better in my opinion

Nah, I'm sitting on about 106, but I honestly got bored of collecting coins and such. Don't get me wrong, I think it was an amazing game. I just have no desire to finish it up to 120 stars at this point. My difficulty complaint comes from the fact that on my first playthrough, it was very common for me to blow through 10-15 stars on the first try, half the time without dying a single time. Not bashing the game, because I had a hell of a lot of fun with it, but I feel like it was just too easy, especially when I compare it to, say, Mario 64.

I'll agree with you on spring Mario 100%. That was the only time I ever had a complaint about the controls.

I guess...

I just come off of beating the game twice and getting all 242 stars. Now THAT was difficult. @_@

the comets and such. Some of the purple coins were crazy. The trash clean-up planets were REALLY hard. The "get hit once and you fail" commets were particularly hard. Speed tests were ok, and so were races. Also, some of the later levels really, and I mean REALLY test your platforming skills.

If you only got to 60 stars, you are missing a lot of amazing stuff.

Sunshine was terrible in comparison. You're in the minority with that opinion, bud.

you asked what made the last 60 stars hard. I said that the commets made it hard. The purple coins were a bit difficult, especially the ones for the haunted mansion, and the toy time one. The "get hit once" commets were hard as well, as you usually went up against as boss.

My last statement was generalized toward everyone by saying that if you only beat the game with 60 stars, you were missing a lot.

Hah, it was, until I learned the secret to it. When you watch someone online do it they jump and then spin in mid-air. I had never thought of that before, and I had previously lost about 20-30 times before I saw that video. After I watched it, I beat it on my first try.
