Silver offers everything from the Xbox Marketplace. The only thing that is different in gold is that it has online multiplayer. And if you really want to play online for free, there's always XB Connect.

with silver, you can use the market place, and play pay to play games like phantasy star and FF XI. thats it. you should buy a 360 anyway. it has some good games. plus, just seeing it sit next to your PS3 and Wii and knowing that no matter what, you win system wars, is pretty cool too.
ive never tried the xbox360 online cuz i have a ps3 and the online on it is great, its free, very easy to connect and simple to do...the xbox live is 4$ a month? my freind owns an xbox360 and doesn't even kno much about xbox live -_-
People have a point -- 50 dollars a year is basically free, so is that seriously stopping you?Â
(I actually say 50/year because it seems much easier to do than 4 a month, 1 a week, whatever. You pay 50 once, then you don't have to pay it again till a whole new year. How can anyone complain?)
I gladly pay my $47.00 for 13 months of LIVE ($47.00 because I get a discount where I work, and 13 months because you get a free month when you buy a year up front). $47.00 for 13 months of LIVE is the best entertainment dollar in gaming... if you are going to let the 360 experience pass you by because of about $5.00 a month... then that's your loss. No other way I can put it. PSN is free... but I have a subscription to nearly every mainstream magazine on the racks, and how many games do I keep seeing that don't support online for PS3? Sometimes you get what you pay for... know what I mean.

Um, you have a PS3 in your avatar....anyway, if you don't want 360 because you don't want to pay 50 bucks year, then nevermind, go spend an extra 200 bucks upfront on a PS3. And remember this.....you get what you pay for, you can't expect ALL your console games to have good online (or even online at all), if you don't pay money. 50 bucks a year is nothing, and if it is too much, then you really should be gaming.....unless if you only buy about 2 games for your system.
