This game is so overrated the gun play was poor they only put auto aim in because they knew the aiming sucked, there was hardly even a story, the game was too realistic, the missions were repetitive, it had no replay value at all and the multiplayer was the worst bit. It's amazing how well the critics received it and yet most of the players found it boring.

You'd be crying if MGS 4 didn't get it, right? Ok, we hear you. It's okay to have an opinion.
They won't. Because MGS4 already beat GTA4 for Best PS3 Game and Fallout 3 beat GTA4 for Best Xbox 360 Game. So unless something very wierd happens, it's not going to be GTA4, MGS4 looks best for the award.
They'll probably give it to MGS4 which I don't agree with, but I won't boycott the site for their decision. It's an opinion, why does it bother people here so much?
You should boycott them because they have a lot of terrible reviews, even though some are okay... Also, it seems like GameSpot is really the only place where players don't like Grand Theft Auto IV. Everywhere else, it seems like the players are fine with it.
NO. GTA IV is a brilliant game, its sad it attracts so much hate due to it being multiplatform. I'd bet my house that if GTA IV were PS3 exclusive or 360 exclusive, fanboys would be praising it to heaven and back. Such a pity...

I honestly blame people for being disappointed with GTA IV. The game itself is solid. Look at all the reviews and what not. Its a great game. Simply stunning. But people wanted GTA San Andreas 2 (Some wanted Vice City 2). That is not Rockstar's fault that people had different expectations.
This is part of why major review sites GOTY awards are suspect. Game review sites are organizations that measure success by the number of hits they get on their site, and the reviewers keep their jobs because they get a lot of hits. Any time they do something, there is a latent question in their collective mind of "Ok, how do we best please the reader and keep them happy with what they're saying?" And voila - awards you can't trust as far as you can throw are born.
And for those of you who think that the GOTY award goes to whoever is most deserving, well... In over a decade of reading game sites, I don't think I've ever seen IGN, Gamespot, Gamespy, etc, give a GOTY award to a game that wasn't wildly popular. Their GOTY is heavily *heavily* influenced by what the most people want to hear them say... As are their reviews.
GTA IV is one of the best games this generation and it deserves the award. Look at the reasons Gametrailers made for giving it the GOTY award. My only complaint is that the mission lacks variety, but considering all the things it did right. It more than deserves a GOTY.
Let me guess: If they give it to MGS4 though it's fine and there great and totally unbiased right? Because that games not overrated in any way what so ever. :roll:
