I will skip all mid-gen upgrades and build myself a PC

After watching some recent floods of GTA 5 Redux videos on YouTube, I am amazed at what I've been missing out on this entire time gaming on consoles. Now I realize why PC gamers want Red Dead Redemption because the game can potentiate so much more on PC.

It just doesn't make sense why I would have to sell my PS4, buy a Pro and a fully capable 4k tv or monitor and still have to settle with 28fps half resolution upscaling... I think that defeats the purpose of upgrading to a 4k tv. There seems to be so many manual controls available at your hands with a high end PC, I will definitely be saving up the next two months or so to build a high end PC in time for the holidays

Good choice, download Kodi, download Launchbox/Retroarch (both legal) and Steam Big Picture mode, suddenly you have a front-end that makes you think "why the f*ck would I ever want to support walled garden crap again for?"

PC Gaming is truly The One Ring to Rule Them All in terms of gaming systems. I only buy consoles for the exclusives and the convenience of having essentially "Smart TV" functionality through a powerful and streamlined interface. Anyone who has navigated a Smart TV interface knows how chunky, laggy, and underpowered they tend to be. If you take graphics seriously, PC is where it is at and always will be. Console manufacturers simply cannot jam the technology you get in an affordable box for the masses when compared to the power and flexibility you get with PC.

Even better to have mediapc under your telly, the multimedia features are just vastly superior to a console still

Sorta. I run an HDMI cable to my TV. Best of all worlds, but I do like the PS4 interface for things like Netflix and Prime. Vue is also pretty great! Love getting to watch Longhorn Network and the stream quality is very good.

@Shewgenja: I've been more or less forced to use the tv's app for Netflix as neither ps4 or my mediapc has been able to push hdr until the recent update, should prob upgrade the gpu to 3gb 1060 or smt

Yet another reason I don't have a dedicated htpc. I want to keep the heat away from the theatre equipment. Also like keeping the power draw to one UPS in the house instead of two. Just personal preference of course.

Most modern pc games aren't pc games but console games with 15% better graphics. From the very foundation the game is aimed with the console platform first and foremost.

The concept of "pc gamer" is questionable now.

Most games I've bought for my PC aren't on consoles. Nothing wrong with consoles to be fair .I was a console only guy until this summer, in fact I was kind of a dick about PC and said stupid things like basement dweller virgin etc. I did my research and designed my own PC . The difference is astonishing , it was like going from a ps1 to a ps3. there's so many different accessories to suit all budgets and needs. And then there's steam xbox,gog and a cpl other places to buy from its like having access to PSN Xbox wii and retro all in one unit and great prices.

Going PC will be the greatest change you've made in gaming I guarantee you won't regret it, the only regret you will have is wondering why you waited so long.

The thing with pc gaming is you will need to upgrade your gpu ever nvidia release or every second nvidia release and do an overhaul every 3 years to completely destroy the console in terms of visuals. Otherwise you may as well just get the ps4pro - Best value for money

What?!? You don't need to upgrade your gpu every other gen?! That's just silly. If you pick up a card now that is faster than the PS4Pro, it will still be faster than the pro in 10 years time. Usually they get a bit faster as they release updated drivers.

@jereb31: I had 2x 780ti in sli and it destroyed 1080p but I honestly couldn't tell the difference between pc and ps4 except for framerate. I guess the question is where do you draw the line in terms of beating the console

That line would be anything > consoles.

consoles are made for games like fifa, mortal kombat, madden, forza, and the occasional exclusive like uncharted or bloodborne.

it's not made to play gta IV, ac unity or the witcher 3. It tries and you can try too but try not to barf.

PC is the best platform to game on, you will see the difference once the fan boy goggles are off and you've got your own. A bit of advice though; don't skimp out when building your first PC and do not go with a "gaming" laptop.

Whereas I am going to upgrade my PC, and buy every mid gen upgrade all because I don't have to justify to anyone what or why I spend my money on anything. Freedom, baby.

why blog it, seems like a good thread, consoles do suck after all for certain games, especially gta V, I bought the current gen for console and became nauseous

I'm bored and was mostly just messing around though I don't agree that consoles suck but you're entitled to your opinion.
