Sony had major hits and it's recovering, good for it, good for us. I just hope they keep delivering better and better games, they are really excelling in that now.

The 360 succeeded because of the way the original xbox was treated, as far as a game experience is concerned. While Sony was releasing "more of the same, but visually better" games on the ps2, MS was pioneering the direction gaming would take. However, the 360 is slowly turning into a big ol pile of poo as of late.

I know right.

every time I hear people talking about sony being arrogant, or that they need to be "humble" I get pissed because i know it's nothing but simple mided rasist motivations behind it. What else can it be, Sony has delivered better than any other gaming company.

Why should sony be humble? They only made PS1 (100 millions+ consoles sold) PS2 (100 million+ consoles sold) they are the reason the console gaming industry boomed like it has today and are the sole reason M$ even decided to enter the console gaming area $$$$$.

What did M$ do? suggest that online gaming was the new age of gaming and needed for HD consoles for the future only to end up being the ONLY company that RESTRICTS online gameplay from gamers who buy their console if they don't pay an extra annual fee.

I don't know what you are talking about but I haven't suffered at all this gen not owning a playstation branded console, if anything this is the best gen so far. All four systems give each other a run for their money, the playstation brand hasn't been the indisputable best since the playstion one imo anyway.

note: Im not knocking the PS3 line up because it has some amazing games, Im just saying it doesn't destroy everything unless all you care about it comparing exclusive gamespot ratings.

TC, on the 360 part, i agree that RRoD is a crappy thing and....that´s it. Actually 360 with almost no hype (especially when compared to the massive hype PS3 got/get) ended up being surprisingly good. So complete and balanced that this is the first gen that i have no need to get a second console.

So the Xbox being popular in America has nothing to do with it being an American console, but it's lack of popularity overseas (though as mentioned by another poster, isn't true) totally has to do with it being American? If one is true then so is the other.

I was more contrasting against his comment about the americans against asian born consoles. To my knowledge, the 360 isn't as popular amongst the japanese market, is it?

Well I would say the main reason most people think Sony should have been humbled is because they came into this generation thinking we are Sony, and people will get two jobs to afford our $700 system, just because we made it. Ken Kutaragi's comments not mine.

It wasn't Sony that made console gaming what it is, you can thank Nintendo for that. If it wasn't for them pulling the industry back from the brink of the collapse of the 80s there probably wouldn't have been a console market for Sony to enter.

You realize that clumping all the people together who buy 360s instead of PS3 and then classifying them as simple minded racists, you are being derogatory too right?

What sells the 360 here is the fact that it is a reasonably priced system with a good library of games. Why do you think the PS3 has been selling better and better since it's price point was moved down to $299? For years it was a $499 PS3 against a $299 Xbox 360. It really wasn't worth the additional $200 just for Blu-ray to a lot of people. Not to mention the game selection on the Xbox was much better than on the PS3 back then. The systems sell on the merits of their games, and the value consumers feel they get. It's that simple, I doubt many people buy a console just because of where it is made, especially since all 3 consoles are made in China mostly.

Think of it this way, here in the US where the 360 usually outsells the PS3 the Wii still usually outsells them both. How can you use the racist against Japanese companies logic? Nintendo is still from the same country as Sony right?

We can't undo the past, no matter how much Sony were full of themselves (and with the abysmal PSP go, it seems they never learn) but... I mean look at Microsoft's console, with it's RROD failure rates, it's incredibly loud fan, and let's be honest, very unappealing aesthetic design. The only reason it succeeded was by being first on the market, being an American system, and being an easy platform to develop for. Lo and behold the thousand of shooters marching in. You've got Sony with games like Infamous, Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain and other IP's making for a more diverse library, while the 360 has its Alan Wake, Fable, and Tales of Vesperia for example. Sony really do diversify more and it really is the better console, with a chargeable controller, a not-incredibly-loud whirring noise, and the fact that it wasn't shipped while full well knowing it was going to provide problems for people living outside of the US and not under Microsoft's 3 year plan thing. I guess the games are finally appearing now that we're really into this gen, so perhaps no harm done? Well, with the direction the industry is taking perhaps more problems are going to arise for gamers with a small wallet...smear_bar

Agreed. Ever since E3 '06, Sony has lost a lot of reputation by thinking that people would buy a very expensive console, as well as constantly making mistakes time & time again up until September '09. Yes, they're now getting back on track, but are those 144 million PS2 owners going to instanty buy themselves a PS3 now? Nope. Most of them have either abandoned Sony altogether or have moved onto the Wii &/or 360 for gaming or just stayed with their PS2's.

And hard body, not producing great games? What are you going on about? What planet are you from? Plus haven't Sony overcharged for things back in PS1 & PS2, as well as making their console not reliable in terms of DRE's, etc.?

Plus do you know how much it takes to run servers, etc.? Why do you think that MS have been charging people to play online? To give them a better experience! Very soon, you're going to be the ones who will have to pay to play online as well. Sony can't keep their online free forever. Even Nintendo's thinking about charging for online play.
