I think it's like saying a whole apple is better than 2 halves of an apple.
You get the same thing, no one really minds.

not when your putting that apple into a console it didnt
Unless you drop the second part of the apple, I hate it when that happens.hkmp5a2
Or when you put them together and the wetness makes them stick together, and then one half slides off, and you're like OH MAN. and then you have eat both of them and be like, Oh man,I was so close to fusing these two halves together.......
what were we talking about?

Hahah, once again good laugh.
Unless it's a huge world that you will need to switch back and fourth a lot to play, I don't mind geting up to switch the disc. kittykatz5k
Since when has ID make non-linear games? I'm almost certain it will be linear. It probably won't be shorter than 8 hours, so that's one disc change every 4 hours if you were planning to play through the game in one sitting.

same thing with a whole apple. Eat one side, and start eating the other, all of a sudden the first side is brown.
How is this not ownage on the lemmings again? The argument has been made countless times that blu ray was unnecessary, well this shows other wise but compression solves this orly? Yeah but the 360 isn't hdd standard so no standard caching lemmings owned...H3llstrikeExactly!!! It proves Sony's investment. ;)

All the waiting is paying off. By 2009 they will be able to play a shadow of the PC version and do no less than half the disc changing of lemmings!

Read the preview it doesn't sound like a linear game (shocking for ID, i know).

Exactly. PC tech is moving so fast that there will be a major difference from the PC version and console version of any particular game in 2009. I can only imagine the gap between the PC and consoles in 2009. Heck PC gamers were playing Doom 3, Half Life 2, and Far Cry in 2004, all of which look better then most PS3 and 360 games of now.Blu-Ray is nice, but its not needed so far.SpruceCaboose
bluray = future proof, meaning in 5 years bluray will be needed
[QUOTE="XenogearsMaster"]LOL at 2 DVDs...
"Bu bu bu bu but teh we don't need booray :cry:" :lol:

calm down.
I don't get it.
lol, what's with the apple analogy :P
anyway, of course blu ray is better than dvd. But X360 having only DVD is a very good design decision at the time (think about it)

Nothing is future proof. That statement alone is insane. Technology is never going to improve beyond Blu-Ray? Give me a break. Its yet to even surpass DVD.
Don't give me this crap that anything is future proof. That is straight PR bull...

Sorry it is "future proof" for the next 10 years. Don't worry though, ps4 will have the 10 years after that covered.

you cows underestimate the marketing of multi discs... if a game is SAID to have multiple discs... a casual would be like.." hey 2 discs... sweet thats a lot of gameplay... whilst they see one disc and just shove it into the regular ol game pile.... for casuals multiple discs could be a seller... seeing as most people dont really see much difference between a dvd and blu ray memory wise since dvd games are still lookin just as good as blu ray
[QUOTE="Squall_Griver"]LINK!
I need ownage confirmation
Squall_Griver
Since it's an open world, that would mean constant disc swapping... :)

Wow i just noticed that under your level 8 it seys quad damage... does that mean quad damage control for 360? And why do you care about xbox marketing?
Calm down.

I've had enough vodka to calm a bull. But saying any technology is future proof is just beyond insane. Blu-Ray has yet to produce a game that cannot be replicated on the 360 though. When and if it does, I will concede that another $200s added to the 360 might have been worth it.
Still, the PS3s price is at least a major factor in its sales troubles as of late, and I think a DVD equipped PS3 at $400 would have been a much better approach.

Don't worry, a bluray equipped ps3 for 399 is on its way.
DVD will be obsolete in 2008. Blu-ray is the way of future gaming.
i hope HD-DVD would hold out. at least that would give the lemmings something to look forward to.

When people are saying "future-proof", there's obviously a limitation they had in mind.
Why does the word even exist if nothing can be future-proof?

I believe all rumors only when they are on retail shelves.
