It's gonna be PS3. I would say that PC has just as good a chance but it hasn't had an exclusive win since 2004 so I doubt that's gonna change anytime soon. GS is all about the consoles. If there's a game that has GOTY written all over it, it's Diablo 3, but the release date is unknown.
PC will never again get GoTY on Gamespot. Not unless Consoles totally tank in the next few years,
Not because a game doesnt deserve it but because Gamespot is console centric, most of its reviewers are console only players and Gamespot in general holds PC games to higher standards than console games.
(waits to see the acknowledged better version of RDR released on PC ... yet score lower than the console version)
I highly doubt Diablo 3 will come out this year. But the PC has some other exciting titles coming out this year, I just don't see them winning GOTY. Considering the first Witcher deserved more than an 8.5 and should have been nominated that year.
And yes, that's my entire reasoning why I don't see Gamespot giving it to a PC title anytime soon.

Well it doesn't take much reasoning. Gamespot simply prefers consoles and that's all there is to it.
If Diablo III comes out, PC will get the GotY -- that's hardly a doubt.
I can't say a game's going to be great because of its predecessors, and the PS3 has had its exclusives pushed over to the next year one-too-many times for me to feel comfortable guessing. I honestly think the award will go to a Multiplatform, but if not, PS3 has, theoretically, a larger number of contestants (although we could be surprised by some 360 exclusives, such as Codename Kingdoms and Project Draco, which I easily see winning a GotY).

So true :D
When ever Diablo 3 comes out, my social life is over. Friends, family, pets, none of them will hear from me again

if the PC exclusives deswerve GOTY then they would get it, if Gamespot is biased then so is every major site on the net
I think you cant take the fact that console games have been GOTY more often than not for a long time ( but why if great game are being made, thats most importajnt right?) and so brandish them all consolists, and all GOTY awards 'a conspiracy'
I get it.......it makes it easier and simpler for you to understand by simplying it to this extent........along with the higher standards (non)argument,
Is supporting a system that important that you have to brandish sites and publications certain things cause you didnt agree with what they say? the words 'grow up' spring to mind here
Like why RDR and GOW3 have won most of the best graphical awards across most websites last year, you will say 'oh the major sites are just ignoring PC now!!'
the argument in your posts can be described in one word 'pathetic'......plain and simple and you are not doing the image of PC gamers (me being one of many) any favours acting like that
At this point it's impossible to judge which game has the best chance of winning. There's simply too many big upcoming titles. Even the heavy hitters like Uncharted 3 and Zelda: Skyward Sword, two games that in any other year would be considered huge favorites to win, are merely lost in the fray and are simply "regular" competitors. It's anyone's ball game, this year.
Well time does play a role. If im not mistake Oblivion on X360 got like 9.6 and then on PS3, which was clearly the better version, it got 9.5, I'm assuming the time that had passed led to this lower score.PC will never again get GoTY on Gamespot. I like Diablo 2, but Diablo 3 will need a hell of a lot of additions to be considered for GotY in a year with DA2, ME2, UC3 & TES5: Skyrim. I'm going to guess it will be a multiplat.

Unfortunately contrary to your suppositions I am not solely a PC game player. If you took the time to look at my profile before beginning your little diatribe, then you would see that I am a gameplayer that plays all platforms.
In regards to whether Gamespot (since I didnt mention other gaming review sites - I wont mention them now, especially seeing as the OP was referring to Gamespot I believe) holds games to a higher standard than console, is incontrovertible (so not a non-argument at all). "Kevin-V" i.e. Kevin VanOrd gamespot reviewer, has stated that (and I quote) "If console game standards were compared to PC standards then PC would win 90% of the time" previously in this very forum.
I have no intention of claiming "conspiracy or bias"! I was merely acknowledging that on this site alone, most of the reviewers are console centric (in fact there are only two reviewers amongst all the reviewers on Gamespot that do PC reviews) and as such, the likelyhood of PC games receiving GoTY year is extremely unlikely when voting is based on how many people have played a game on a particular system multiplied by those who thought it was the best of the year. The PC (or any system for that matter) may have the best game, but if only two people out of 20 have played that game and the other 18 have not, then those 2 peoples ability to sway voting their way is pretty average to say the least.
As evidence I present not only Kevin-V's aforementioned statement but the reviews of games that are noticably better on PC that scored higher on Console or the same when reviewed when compared to PC such as GTA4, ME1/ME2, Resident Evil 5, BF2 etc etc etc. And not only that, Starcraft 2 is the readers choice for 2010 Gamespot GoTY by quite a margin, yet the reviewers choice is something else.
Perhaps you are the one who needs to "grow up" and not jump to conclusions. Lets face it, jumping to conclusions is pretty pathetic ... and maybe it is that type of behaviour that is not doing the image of the PC gamer any favours (if you are truly one)
Well consider this, SC2 was THE top contender for GOTY this year and if i recall correctly it wasn't even nominated. The only PC game that has a shot is SW:ToR. I would love to See Red Orchestra win best shooter at leastin 2011, but CoD, or some other consoleFPS will win that. GS isin't a very PC oriented site when they fail to reveiw quite a few PC games (Europa Universalis 3: Divine Wind, Blood bowl: Legendary edition, Hearts of iron Semper Fi etc.).

Ah, okay. I had a feeling i was wrong.Indeed, but its funner when you make stuff sound longer and more complex. Its like resume speak but nerdier.isn't platform exclusive the same as exclusive?

Ah, okay. I had a feeling i was wrong.It Happens :P
I don't think GS could not have nominated it, definitely a worthy contender.
Exclusives are definitely dwindling... and I really couldn't care less, most of the best and most enjoyable games I've played this gen have been multiplat.
PC is in last. Why? PC no longer matters to websites like GameSpot, IGN, GameTrailers. GT it's really evident, because during their best software lineup they had PC with three exclusives I believe, Mass Effect 2 (which was their GOTY) and some other multiplatform game that they were in love with and yet PC still lost to Xbox. I guess Red Dead Redemption and Rock Band 3 are better than StarCraft II (which they praised) and Civ 5 (which they also praised)
PS3 > Wii > 360 after that. Obviously the more exclusives you have the better chance you have.
I think an important reason PC-exclusives haven't won for awhile is that they are in the "wrong" genres. RTS, Strategy, MMO, FPS is not what is hot among reviewers atm (allthough they are very hot among players). Reviewers prefer story-telling, dialogue and, in lack of a better word, "realism". Other genres with no shot at GOTY are sports-, racing- and fighting games. It's actually a rather narrow range of genres that has GOTY potential and the PC suffers from it.SushigluttonIf these reveiwers want realism the Red Orchestra 2 has it in the bag. But i'd say Skyrim will win it this year.
