Probably PS3, but Sony would lose way too much money and would be forced to raise the price back up.

At $450? In that case, Wii would probably have HD capabilities and more horsepower than. With that price Nintendo could put more into their console and Sony would be forced to take out bluray and what not.

Yes.  But there were only 5 titles per console. The 5 best that each have plus the new titles that are coming out for each console.

That's like asking if 3 different products had all the same games, the same specs, and the same configuration options. It's basing speculation on conditions that DON'T exist. We can only deal with the FACTS. All 3 have different specs, different options, and aside from multiplats, still have different games, and yes, different price points.

The Price, Games, and Features will always play vital roles in the final purchase decision, so you can't just ignore that with "but what if...."

Every console still had everything it has now.  Dont worry about how much money the companies would loose and crap.

If all 3 were equal on pricing power and games, they would all 3 be the same system.

That doesn't make sense though. Why would Nintendo overcharge by $200 and not add anything. It's like saying "Oh, what if the PS3 were $20,000 but it still had everything intact"

nobody would buy the wii for 450 cause its not even good enough for 300... it should be 200 because of what is inside it. i would probably get the ps3 just cause it has way more crap in it.... i bought the 360 because its the best bang for the buck and because i wanted GeOw and Halo 3 but a ps3 for 450 is a steal lmao

Ok. Pretend the consoles just came out today.  No one ever mentioned there price until release day. Man why is everone over analizing this!!

OK. WHAT IF ALL CONSOLES WERE FREE!!!!! BUT YOU CAN ONLY PICK 1 TO CHOOSE FROM.  THEY HAD 5 TITLES, EACH CONSOLE HAS THE 5 BEST GAMES FOR ITS CONSOLE.. WHICH ONE WOULD YOU PICK?

I'm telling you. That makes no sense. PS3 gets the price cut, but Wii gets a 200% price increase, without any additions to its hardware? Obviously the discounted product will sell more. Hey, how about if Wii were $10. Wow, that would be selling like hotcakes more than it is now

Ok you guys are seriously over analyzing the OP's question.. SERIOUSLY.   It's simple really.  Imagine that all three consoles had the same specs and technical capabilties that they have now.  Now imagine that each of these consoles costs the same amount of money.   So here price is not a factor. Now decide which console would sell the most in this situation and which you would like to have if you were to choose one. It's a hypothetical situation, so don't argue that it doesn't make sense.

I would say that Sony brand and technical superiority will make the PS3 prevail in this situation.  It seems like the biggest reason why people are not buying the PS3 is the price.  Yes, its game library is lacking, but we know that the games will come eventually.  Anecdotely (is that a word?), I've always read on forums and heard from friends that people would buy the PS3 if it were priced competitively in the XBOX 360 range.  So yeah, PS3 would come on top.

OMG! Thank you! For explaining that and for answering the question.  This proved my little theory of how many people are caught up in this whole system wars crap. Iasked a question and mostly I get are "NO way theyll loose money or have to remove this and that".  Since when is everyone a financial analyst?  People act like its coming out of there own pockets.  It all should be basic to us gamers and not any of this business crap.  People are arguing over which system is better when the root of it is pricing. Theres no wrong answers just opinions which is what it should be.

No, what you should thank em for, is finally figuring out what you meant by your original post.  You were looking for a way to say Sony is the better system when it clearly is not.  Price is a factor, as well as what is on the inside, and the games.  Sony is in last, will remain in last, and all the fairy tale marketing and what if's in the world will not change it.

Is that what you think? i was looking for a way to say Sony is better?  Your wrong meatball. If you read everything that I said " there is no wrong answer" I just wanted opinions. Honest ones and people stop overanalizing everything.  If you think the SONY is last stuff that you said well thats your opinion too!

As a value the PS3 would be the clear bargin. From a games standpoint I'd say the 360 would be nice, if I had a BR player. The wii. Well, um, uh, you know, um, uh, ok.

Thing is... they're not. Logically, if they were all priced the same, available features and internal hardware would change from their current pricing structure.

New one!!

If these three things cost the SAME amout what would sell more?

1. A awsome sports car

2. A Jeep

3. A Can of Soda Pop

Now keep in mind that these 3 things all came out at the same time!! (just to be fair)

:D

i say 360!
