If DemiGod was on the 360 it would have scored at least 8.5

The reason is because the DemiGod's multiplayer code sucks. At first it was blamed on pirates, but stardock has admitted that it's not really the pirates that caused the issue (although they did contribute to it) they just have some very poor design choices. If this was on the 360 it would have LIVE software APIs backing it and it would have made the stuff that stardock and gas powered games didn't know how to do easy and it would also have voice chat.

Gameplay wouldn't be affected much as demigod is NOT a real RTS it's a hybrid RTS/RPG/Action game.A controller can more than capably handle controlling one character on screen and with a small map. RTS games typically fail becuase it's hard to controller many units, build/goto multiple buildings and areas of the map. DemiGod has a small map that is easily navigated by scrolling around and it only has 4 item/skill slots. in fact I bet it would play better on the 360 or at least just as good (unless you're just can't handle using a controller and you need a mouse in your hand).

It's sad for such a fun game to be crippled like it is because of crappy net code. It's hurting sales of the game which in turn hurts the games online component. Oh and it's pretty much an online only game. It has an AI skirmish, but the AI sucks. Oh and it gets worst for online right now because every single game I have played has at at least 1 AI DemiGod in it but most it's has at least two and sometimes 3 computer AI demigods. So right now the multiplayer is pretty much just like the single player.

I wish this game didn't have these issues because it has so much potential and it's really fun and easy to pick up. Maybe they'll port it to the 360. I would say PS3 as well, but with the PS3 they have to write their own netcode, so you'd pretty much get the same garbage they have on the PC right now.

I heard the MP is broken, but what about the SP? I know there isnt a story, but I would still probly pick this up if the skirmishs are good, since its only like 40$ right?

Multiplayer has been fine on Demigod for quite awhile now. I was playing it around a week and a half after release and it was perfect online.

A game like this only works on PC like it is in it's current state. As with most genres, a Mouse is far superior in the case of Demigod (RTS's). Demigod is easily an 8.0+ game.

the game has been patched and there are less and less issues on a almost daily basis.

Besides, its not like 360 games havent had problems with netcode in the past.

No it's not. I have yet to get into a game with all humans and it takes quite a while for a match to happen. In fact they are stil recommending we use a different system for online. In fact, it's the same one the pirates use to play online, but don't worry they say because even with that system the pirates can't play the updated version. You may actually be better playing the non-updated version so you can play with the pirates.

I'd wait until they completely fix MP before jumping in. Just read the stardock forums and you'll see it still ain't fixed. Ignore the balance whiners as the game is still too new to know who is over powered and who isn't. But once it's fixed do buy it...it can be a great time online, but until they do the single player isn't worth it at all. If you want single player RTS get a real RTS. What makes this game fun is the hybrid of RTS, RPG, and action...playing with an all human team would be great as you can coordinate attacks and strategy (lack of voice support really hurts it though...I feel like it's 1998 and I'm playing starcraft and need to type everything).

You do realize that there are dozens of servers up on Demigod (that aren't the small group of pirates playing) in the newest patched version, right? I think you're done. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. They addressed issues and fixed them within a week. There's still some balancing happening but that goes in every game. Stop complaining.

yeah it'd get an 8.5, but only due to the fact that consoles have lower standards ;)

Heck, considering standard differences, it could release on the 360 in the same state as the PC one just did and get a 9.5

Let's see I own demigod. I can't get it to put me in an all human match (the most is 1 other human). People are complaining about it at forums.stardock.com: http://forums.stardock.com/349509 http://forums.stardock.com/349323 http://forums.stardock.com/349502 And those are on the front page. Heck one of them even says the CEO of stardock is giving refunds to people who aren't willing to wait for them to fix it. But yeah, I'm the one that doesn't know what's going on.

Maybe. Or it could be ridiculously bad due to the controls. If it's anything like DOTA like IGN said, it would be terrible on the 360.

I just played 6 games in a row with human-only players (until we got some ragequitters in late-game.) One of them was even a 5v5.

Yes, there are issues..but they're not nearly as bad as you're making them out to be. Also, these issues would hardly be solved with Live..the netcode is inherently flawed in utilizing a P2P system (this is the only game I know of on any platform that uses such a system. Certain WC3 modes use something akin to it, but it's not the same.) Moving to Live wouldn't change anything unless they revamped the netcode completely (which they can very well do on PC.)

Stardock is working on making the P2P system a better experience, though. Once they get the proxy servers up, you'll probably see far fewer failed connections between players..meaning people will join more quickly, and games can get started much faster.

Wow a 5v5 all human game? WTF are you doing to get such a thing going? are you playing a lan game? I'd love to know what the trick is...how long do you have to wait...I typically wait 5-10 minutes then get stuck in a 3v3 or 2v2 but only one other human is playing with me.

No, not LAN..just playing in standard internet custom matches. I admittedly have not played many 5v5s (few people seem to be willing to get one going.) Not a single person dropped when that game launched, and we had not a single ragequitter for the entire match. It was 5 human players vs 5 human players for the entire game. It was a goddamn miracle. I HAVE previously seen issues with 5v5 games..I'd seen a 'desynchronized gamestate' error (around mid-game) twice in 5v5 games prior to that successful 5v5.

I didn't start it, but I have joined and played in a few successful US West/Central 5v5 games. I'm usually the 3rd or 4th player to join when I see one, and the games typically take about 5 mins or so from that point to actually launch (usually have good hosts for these, and this is probably key: I see them booting people in the connection list that aren't making connections.) As for 2v2 and 3v3 games, I very rarely see bots in those..until you get quitters towards the end of the game, but that's another issue entirely. On the rare occasion that I do see a bot in the game at the very beginning, I tend to immediately leave the game and find another (usually won't leave mid/late-game, unless I'm the only person left.)

Mass Effect and Fable 2 got some of the lowest scores in Gamespot actually and are some of the best games i played

They could've used live like dawn of war 2 did or Steam or maybe even GPGnet from Supcom. The thing is Stardock wanted to try something new with Demigod, stardock has ambitions and they know more than anyone that steam also started of like crap. It takes a while to get a good system going, in time people will look back at this and laugh it off like most do now when they remember that Steam was pirate heaven 5 years back.

Looks like you are the exception and not the norm. The CEO of stardock just today called the online a travesty and still not working: http://forums.stardock.com/349753 Frogboy is the CEO...so while the game works for you it's not working for many others and the CEO agrees that it's broken.

The game has no voice chat? so how on earth do you communicate with your team mates? Send text messages? I don't understand why they still make PC games without built in voice communication in 2009. That really sucks.

it's coming in the future. At the moment they screwed up their server calculations so I'm waiting for them to fix that before anything with VoIP is included.

well they also violated their own gamers bill of rights with this game by releasing it when it wasn't complete and not offering 100% refunds.
