I think almost every one would be prepared to give it a fair go. I mean expectations for this game are actually so low that if it actually were quite decent I think it would get some good reviews. If howeverif it is crap... well be prepared for the duke to beshredded to bits.

none the less I would buy it in any case

Honestly, its release would be such a miracle that no matter what the content of the actual game was, it would warrant a 10.5

If it actually gets finished, I could see it easily scoring 8.5-9.0. From what I saw of the leaked video, there was very high production values going into it and it seemed like it maintained the old-school shooter gameplay which we haven't seen in at least a decade. If its Duke Nukem 3D in a modern engine, it will do very well.

It wouldn't get reviewed, the Internet would have exploded on the day of release.

5, it will be a mediocre/ poor game, it would have to be hilariously funny to get anything. if you take too long on a game the times change, and you just can't keep up. you have to pretty much change the gameplay every year to keep up to date, while developing new ideas.

look at chinese democracy it was nothing on past guns n roses albums, it was a horrible mash of all popular rock music since the 90's.

If it actually gets finished, I could see it easily scoring 8.5-9.0. From what I saw of the leaked video, there was very high production values going into it and it seemed like it maintained the old-school shooter gameplay which we haven't seen in at least a decade. foxhound_fox

this sums up my point perfectly, old school gameplay from the 90's, there's a reason we don't still have gameplay from the 90's, because it's outdated.

It won't get a score because it's never getting released, hence the title Forever.

Can people please just forget about this game. It is not going to come out, and even IF it did it would have no chance of living up to the hype generated for the past decade.

Outdated by being more fun than modern, "realism" shooters? I like playing Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D more than I do any modern shooter. They are all so bland, derivative and unoriginal. Its a competition to see who can do realism the best, instead of coming up with cool new ideas like jetpacks in Tribes.

i guess if you prefer shooters like doom then this game would appeal to you. i just don't think doom measures up to anything, in it's day it would have been great but now i think it's mostly nostalgia. you walk around corridors, with the inability to look around, and shoot sprites that pop up in front of you. i agree that there is a market for more retro feeling fps games, but to mimic their gameplay is a horible idea.

A Doom .wad launcher that makes the best hoard-styIe gameplay even better and more hectic. Not a single game since Doom II: Hell on Earth has been able to reproduce the hoard gameplay as well as Doom did it. It isn't "mostly nostalgia," shooters might have advanced technologically, but that doesn't mean they got more fun or "better." There has yet to be a single shooter that has come close to beating System Shock 2 or Deus Ex. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl was close, but still a ways off.

better technology =/= better game

Which is one reason why I find most modern shooter so bland, derivative and boring.

From what I've seen minus the Too-Human-like blind hate I say a 7.5 on GS, and I'd still get and play the game happily.

-50 for taking so damn long. Expectation would be huuge as well, they have had more then enough time to play around with the gameplay until it's perfect in every way

The thing is the game would not even have to be good for it to sell. I don't understand how such a powerful franchise like Duke Nuken can go over a decade without releasing a true succesor (none of this spin off crap). People would buy a Duke Nukem game in the millions even if it sucked... the devs are dumb for not releasing anything...

No more than a 7.5. Duke Nukem is like the Joe-everyman of shooters. Sure his character is a bad ass but the game is built around key hunting. I find it hard to believe Forever was taking a very different approach.

I disagree completely. Technology is used to better engage the player. The focus on realism improves the game immensely for me. I have tried my hardest to go back and play the oldies. I can't, Im to young, I have no connection to them. I played half-life and found it very engaging and I was loving it, until I was actually supposed to fire weapons. I was kicked out of the games brilliant atmosphere by out-dated gunplay.

But it's all opinion I guess. But for some (Dare I say most) technology can on average equal a better game.

You're both right. Graphics can enhance a gaming experience and most modern FPS have done nothing to progress core FPS gameplay (ie boring).
