It would essentially marginalize the Playstation and Xbox brands in one swoop, IMO.

*shrug* Thing is, you need ALOT of money to gain a marketshare within any market. The question is: Does EA have a large enough reserve of cash they can afford to literally throw away to gain the marketshare needed to be sucessful?

EA will never make a gaming console.

They'd much rather use multiple consoles to their advantage, instead of competing against Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

EA has said that they want a one system environment, and they are a multi-billion dollar a year company. They also have more brands that have name appeal that any other publisher, IMO.

Madden games, NHL games, NBA Live, Battlefield, the Lord of the Rings license, BioWare and Pandemic, the Burnout series, The Sims, Spore, Need for Speed, Tiger Woods, Command and Concur, etc

Add to that the Take Two stable if they make a purchase (GTA, Midnight Club, BioShock, The 2K Sports team, Civilization series) and you would have a dominate exclusive library that would sell systems, and sell them fast.

If it was actually better than the other 2, then I would buy it.AIH_PSP

Then Microsoft and Sony would team up, Sony handling the CPU and Microsoft handling the GPU, would equal the ultimate gaming experience in a console, and undertake the entire market in one swoop...

I really don't see a single console taking EA down, but man, if MS and Sony teamed up imagine the possibilities!
