As long as its exclusive to the PS3 yes, I would buy it. If it turned out to be multiplatform, then I hate turn based RPGs.

No. If FF13 was in the same vein as Kingdom Hearts, then yes, I would buy it.
With that said, I can't wait for Versus 13.
People say they don't like turn based yet all the FF fans choose FF7, FF8 or FFX as being the best FF Rpgs all of which had turn based combat, and it can't be denied really the combat in each of these games was one of the reasons why there the best for so many FF fans..
I think FF13 is a mix of turn based and realtime combat, FF12 was turn based apparently cause each character did take turns to fight I think. If FF13 did go with the realtime action RPG approuch it would probably just be another button masher with no depth at all.. just like KH2.
its not, i thought it was the same battle system as 12.
and i really dont care this is going to be the best JRPG ever mademattyomo99

FF are the best JRPGs out there and every time the jump to next gen its an amazing game, and i dont see 13 being any differant

12 was turn-based. It was still ATB, only more real-time. That is, you were free to move around while issuing commands, but it was still an ATB system. The Gambit system was a great introduction, though.

I wonder if this topic has anything to do with Lost Odyssey...hmm...
The Turn-based formula works even in recent times. Look at FFXII : at its core, it is a turn-based game, with a candy-coated illusion of a dynamic JRPG when it fact it still relies on the same basic formulas, such as an active time gauge recharge durng battle.
DQ8 is a terrific AAA game, and it couldn't be any more turn-based than the older J-RPGs.

well thats what i ment, i really didnt think that was turn based.
when i think turn based i think the old FF system where there is a seperate screen for fighting, and you can only attack every 5sec or so and there is a specific order you have to go in. The FF12 system dosnt seem trun based to me
As long as it didn't revert to like SNES/PS1 turn based I wouldn't mind. They definitely need to improve on the current battle system (still turn based BTW) if they want FF13 to really usher in a new era of RPG.Tiefster
Usher in a NEW ERA? Why the HELL would you want it to do that? The only FF's that have 'ushered in new era's' are the first and the 7th... The first for the dawn of GOOD 2D rpg's and the 7th for being flagship 3D rpg.
Did the lack of the games being era ushers make them any worse? They still cained ass to the 1st degree when they were turn based, they WERE the best. They were iconic. The iconic status stoped with FF12. It sucked ass. Bring back the old style please.

Oh, does it?
IT's missing a Question Mark, so I didn't know for sure if this was some sort of joke or noob thread. You may want to fix that.
As far as your Question goes, yes I would buy it.
JRPG's always have much better storylines than the standard WRPG's. WRPG's may offer more personal custimization, but at the sacrifice of a more powerful, albeit linear, story.
Still, you won't keep me away from it.
FFX and FFXII proves that. People trust Square, and they don't usually judge their purchases on something so random. Turn Based or not, I'm buying it. IN SW THOUGH, THE WORLD DOESN'T SEEM TO APPLY. It seems here it's Mass Effect or bust (Although I do own that too.)
It wouldn't bother me much, but considering what they showed the battles to look like, I'd feel a bit disappointed.
However, if it's a clever turn based system with some sort of twist to it, I wouldn't mind.
I read that they'd use a tweaked version of what we've seen in FF XII. I wouldn't mind that either, but some improvement would really be needed.

"Playing The Greatest Game Blue Dragon, Anticipating The next Amazing Game Lost Odyssey"
Your sig.
I can guarentee you that FF13 will be better than both those games. (Even though I cant ****ing wait for LO)
what? it's not turn-based?
i might actually get if / when i get a PS3, so long as enemies don't pop-up randomly
if it's turn-based, i won't get it

From what Ive read, its gona be similar to FF12 combat system, but upgraded.
I would love if FF13 was turn-based, I am a FF fanatic and have played and beaten every main FF except 11 (which I don't really consider part of the main series, its a MMO) and have always prefered turn-based/ATB over what they did for FF12 for some reason, I am not saying it was a bad game, but I would have prefered the older style.
Personally, I wish they would make a Final Fantasy Tactics 2, not any of that FFT Advance stuff, FFT was an amazing game, one of the best FFs.
It is turn based, but modified and sounds really promising.
Don't worry about that generic garbage though. Lets just enjoy the bugfest aka Mass Effect. Japanese RPG developers should die with their boring games.
Western FTW.
I love final fantasy Games more than my own mother, ok thats not true but it comes close. What i am trying to say is that I consider Final Fantasy's to be the pinnacle of gaming and i have been playing games since the Commodore 64 so i have played a few.
Final Fantasy XII was a disappointment in regards to the battle system. I love Turn-Based fighting and I really hope they make Final Fantasy XIII more like a traditional ATB System with a few enhancements like FFX did.
final fantasy XII did not give me the same pleasure as previous games in the series and although I will buy FFXIII no matter what i really want it back to the good old days.
