as far as FPS interesting characters, gordon freeman has the quasi-storm trooper beat sir.

besides FPS already we're getting popular on consoles with turok and goldeneye, and with Metroid Prime coming out around the same time the FP idea would prolly still have been appealing to alot of devs, maybe they would've made more FPA instead

besides half life, TF, counterstrike, serious sam were all kicking butt back around halo

if halo stayed on Mac, and was strategy, the xbox would've failed and we'd be talking about how the ps2 beat the cube last generation and gaming would be alot easier with 2 consoles to choose

not to say MS has added nice things to console gaming, just nice things that were already in PC gaming

i don't know why they don't push windows gaming more than XBL gaming

I agree Halo improved and in certain ways(intuative vehicle controls, epic presentation) innovated, but your view on a world without halo is purely speculative. Just think, a world without Half-Life or Goldeneye 64 could have lead to a world where halo might've sucked, or(gasp) never existed.:shock:

if the devs wanted, they could hire some company to write a trilogy about the Sackboy and make him an interesting character. it all depends of one's ability to write. you can even make an ant interesting.i've always found it ridiculous when people said that Master Chief was an incredible character due to the novels. that would be true if:

- the novels came included with the first game;

- the game was made based on the novels, not the other way around.
