IF Heavenly Sword ends up AAA, will you downplay it?

Just wondering what the reaction will be if Heavenly Sword ends up AAA at GS. Will haters just downplay it and pass it off as no big deal? will some fess up and give credit to the PS3 at long last?

personally, I have no idea how this game will turn out here. But a few magazines I have read gave it very high AA scores, in one case, gave it an AAA score. so what do you think about the possible turnout here?

from playing the demo i doubt it will get AAA.

In fact if it gets the same as bioshock i will cry a little inside.

I would give credit to where it is due. Warhawk looks like a fun game and Im glad that the long suffering cows has something worthy to play.

Cows should also not bash other console's games because their line up is horrible.

If it gets AAA, great, congratulations PS 3 owners, have fun with it. If it doesn't, C'est la vie.

Heavenly sword will probably get a 8.5

That isn't a bad score but if it scroes n e less then it would be a major flop

Lemmings will still call it a flop because of other reviews. Cows will be happy but lemmings will bring up Lair to counter. Sheep will wait a hope that during all this everyone forgets the MP3 flopped.

Really HS has a 50/50 chance of making AAA. I sure hope itgetsAAA.I dont plain on buying it either way but it would really shut a couple lemmings.Blitz_Nemesis

No I was just using an easy to understand example of how preposterous the idea of Heavenly Sword getting AAA at Gamespot is.

dont set yourself up for another lair. to be honest halo3 comes out in 24 days, lemmings probably wont even notice. give the ps3 credit? look at the top ten rated games for the ps3 and 360. the highest game on the ps3 list that isn't a xbox port is resistance at 8.6, the same score as the lowest rated game on the 360 list. a glitch is keeping oblivion off the 360 list meaning that when halo3 releases the highest rated ps3 exclusive would even make the 360 top ten list.rdo

There's no doubt about it. HS has an uphill battle before it when it comes to appealing to GS.

it was a highly polished shooter with very entertaining combat. the weapons weresofun to use. the levels were huge.the number of enemies on screen at once was one of it's great strengths. the online was excellent, with customizable models, an great ranking and point system. in some ways, it has things Halo 3 online should have, but doesn't, like points for kill assists. excellent hit detection, I might add, and the dedicated severs for super smooth online play were awesome.

so, I guess what I wanted to say is: yes, Resistance had it's own uniqueness.

I dont know why anyone would downplay an AAA game, it should be recognized for its greatness, that said im not confident it will reach AAA, just because other reviewers have givin it around AA and AAA, and for a gamespot review to be AAA, it seems like it has to get AAAA from other reviewers.FancyKetchup25

there just seems to be so much downward momentum on GS regarding PS3 games. I wonder what would happen to HS critics if HS suddenly broke the AA trend unexpetedly and became an uncontested AAA excusive. it's hard for haters to let go of hate.

It wont get AAA, its apparently only around 5-6 hours...

but at the same time, i beat the original God Of War in that amount of time so i dont see how thats too much of a bad thing

Look, I'm interested in Heavenly Sword too but get real. There is no way in hell that game will score 9.0 or higher, period. It will probably be a very fun game but it will be way too short for one thing, has bad pacing and no block feature according to other reviews. I can absolutely guarantee it won't score a 9 or higher.briguyb13

I didn't say it would score 9, and I did not assume that, either. But I leave the possiblity open that it could, however unlikely.

It won't get AAA. GS standards are just too ridiculous these days, with MP3 scoring 8.5 and Bioshock scoring 9. Regardless of these standards however, I seriously doubt that Heavenly Sword is going to be anywhere near the PS3's highest rated game due to many reviewers' complaints of its repetitive nature, and poor pacing. Those kind of games don't get AAA, no matter how desperate you are. I expect a 7.0-8.0 rating. I would just go back to playing Warhawk and play that right now honestly, and hope for the success of games like Uncharted. Heavenly sword just doesn't have a chance.DrinkDuff

this is what troubles me, though: where were GS's ridiculously high standards when they reviewed Gears of War? seriously, that was a little too generous. I haven't heard of any poor pacing in HS in the reviews I've read. they say the story moves well, and it has a very good climactic ending.

Sorry to correct you, but I'm holding the latest issue of EGM in my hands right now. Let's see... page...92, Heavenly Sword review: 8, 8, and a 9. AAA review, right there. Go to gameinformer.com, and you'll see that they scored HS at 8.75. Those are my two sources. Still, unlikely AAA here.

They pretty much cant give it AAA. BioShock only got a 9.0 and is a huge, single-player game. If heavenly sword is single-player only and the rumors of how short it is are true, it wouldn't be fair to give it a AAA score. It's all about value at the end of the day.

GI was pretty glowing about it. They've said it's like a big-budget Hollywood action movie, with some of the best gameplay moments of the year.

But still, this isn't really getting anywhere. the GI review was still short of AAA by just a quarter of a point, and GS has reviewed the same games by a point less lately on some high profile games. it's gonna be tough for HS.

Ok one AAA review from EGM, it still averages out in the low 8s and the official 1UP score is an 8.0.
