My copy of the Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings plays pretty smoothly in me ole Xbox One. Havent seen anything written about it on the front 2 pages so figured I would.
My real question is, will save data carry over? That would be cool if so.

Yup. Own and played all 3 on my PC. But theses versions are a better deal than just 3 on PS4. Would be nice if CDPR would do a Witcher 2 for PS4 now.
No. Saves won't carry over from 2 to 3 on Xbox but I don't see any obstacles in implementing this feature now.
Btw I prefer 2 to 3 by large margin.

You made it well known how you felt about 3 here. I don't understand it, and don't need a response trying to justify or convince me because your game playing has nothing to do with mine. Witcher 3 is for me, exactly what its reaping in rewards right now: the best RPG/action of the year and I'd put it against anything else in history
Why should it be newsworthy? You should expect everything to work as advertised. Lem standards are so low.
So a game working properly is suppose to be news?
Is this a BC game from the X1 catalog of BC games or something?
If so...I mean, thats good and all, but I wouldn't call it news worthy. And no...not only bad news is news worthy.

In a world when every single negative tidbit about Xbone no matter how unnoticeable in practice is blown out of proportions, I'd say why not? Especially with negative stereotype mongering that still lingers in some unaware folks subconsciousness, I mean the original vision for Xbone...some people still think it's got always online and stuff.
It's very easy to spread negativity about Xbone, even if it's falsified, but it seems that for a large group of people, it's also beyond difficult to give it - I mean it neutrally - a credit for anything.

That'd be sweet

This. It's like when people complain about how the media only talks about cops when they screw up. "Why aren't there any stories about cops doing a good job?" Because they're SUPPOSED to do a good job, and even the ones who can't do a good job generally don't **** up so badly that it ends up in the news. That's precisely why it's the news, because it's a deviation from what is normal and expected. You don't get a cookie for doing shit that you're just plain SUPPOSED to do.
Also, there's a psychological effect at play with regard to audiences. Positive news means that people can safely ignore it. Negative news gets attention. Basic "fight or flight" mentality. Most people don't pay much attention to the flowers blooming in spring, because they don't have to. But they'll damn sure pay attention if they notice a goddamn rabid raccoon sneaking around in a bed of flowers during spring.
Anyway, positive news is fine. I'm not knocking it. But let's be honest: there's a lot of truth to "if it bleeds, it leads." And we can't just blame the media. They wouldn't be selling it if consumers weren't begging for it.
Why should it be newsworthy? You should expect everything to work as advertised. Lem standards are so low.
But I've never seen one advertisement.
Its newsworthy as much as you cows who don't have the feature rub it out to any chance to downplay it. But here we are. Witcher 2 stil only playable on Xbox consoles, outside of PC
And that means nothing of course unless it were running at 5 fps.
As for "standards"? Why would anyone put a self imposed limit on what they can have fun with? That makes no logical sense at all.
So a game working properly is suppose to be news?

After 3 threads on Halo Reach supposedly being unplayable? Sure why not. Like when Cabrerra goes 0/5 but the next day gets an RBI single. It makes the news for showing the opposite.
@Salt_The_Fries: A game working properly should be normal....or average.
Are we praising normal or average now?
Should an average quarterback get paid more than Cam Newton?
Why should it be newsworthy? You should expect everything to work as advertised. Lem standards are so low.

So are grammar school children, doctors, and soldiers. So positive reinforcement should be removed from our society as a whole> Because its used so little as it is and we see the repercussions of a society the wants gossip and dirt on one another.
Guess my thread was more to a query as to why must these cows be all over Reach which had struggles but a game not on PS consoles is running smooth as butter and not one peep. Hate the other product but where is the integrity? LOL

I love the way cows downplay Free BC on the Xbox one when they have to pay 20 bucks for games that are 10-15 years old, they really should learn to be quiet because they are well and truly on the wrong side of the argument as far as BC is concerned.
Yup. Own and played all 3 on my PC. But theses versions are a better deal than just 3 on PS4. Would be nice if CDPR would do a Witcher 2 for PS4 now.

Gotta believe its possible now and would bring in that nice icing on the cake revenue right now.

I'm guessing Caberra is a good player nonetheless though....which is my point. He gets news b/c he's a popular/good player...not b/c he's average. Everyone has their slump or off days. Your metaphor isn't quite like mine. It's not about the single actions of the player...it's about the player being average or better than that.

If we're going to be real here, Halo Reach stuttering wasn't all that news worthy either. I mean how many here, especially the ones championing that news even had the console? Is that really news? Or just typical fanboy jousting.
To answer one of your first questions, it is a recently released 360 game to the BC list. Significant because its successor is sweeping GOTYs. More than half my friends that didn't buy it on 360 are downloading it now as MS and CDPR are giving it all Xbox One owners FREE for a limited time. That and the fact its playing well is pretty good news imo.

It's suppose to work...it working doesn't make it better or worse.....it's just how it's suppose to be. It's like if my Pharmacist gave me the right prescription. He's suppose to do that....thats not news worthy. I thank god he does....but not news worthy.
Now if he was to give me some crazy cancer medication when I was suppose to get prepscription strength Tylenol then, **** yeah....thats news worthy.
That shit ain't suppose to happen.
So fanboy shit or not....most of the time negative stuff is in fact newsworthy. Unless it's above average.
Which in this case....is getting TW2 for free for a limited time AND it working well on the X1 AND it being on the X1 BC list.
Not to mention it's a great game.

How about the fact that its FREE. You didn't need to own it on 360, as I did digitally. All X1 owners got a copy if they went to Xbox.com followed instructions. And I still disagree. If the previous release did NOT work correctly then a return to form is news worthy. Not to mention this idea you keep mentioning of "how its supposed to be".
Sorry to burst your bubble son, but life doesn't believe in "supposed to". Things break, are faulty, don't run. It isn't uncommon for something to NOT work as its supposed to for the rest of us. I don't know where you're living at.
As for negative being whats really newsworthy? That has been argued since Murrow and Cronkite. Not it isn't any more than positive. Its just sexier and sells papers as they used to say.

I should have stopped when I realized you didn't even read my whole post b/c the very first thing you said....about it being free....is exactly what I said in the latter part of my post.

My parents are in their 70s and at the end son. We infuse what attitude we "hear" in written words. So that came from in you. get some help.
@cainetao11: You're a real winner. Just b/c I converse with conviction doesn't mean I'm being nasty. You brought up the "You my son" and stupid shit.
Thats nice....personally...I don't care about your parents.
Yup. Own and played all 3 on my PC. But theses versions are a better deal than just 3 on PS4. Would be nice if CDPR would do a Witcher 2 for PS4 now.
That'd be sweet
Bundle it with the first too, would be great even if just a port. And heck get xbox in on the action too they are all great games everyone should play (although I imagine W1 has aged a bit I don;t remember a whole lot about it tbh)

Oh lord the bias
No, a game running properly is not news. Because that is how it should be. You don't commemorate it on doing what it should be doing either way. If a game doesn't run properly, that is news, because that right there is something that shouldn't be happening in ordinary course.
@cainetao11: The console versions of Witcher 3 don't have save data compatibility at all, so it doesn't seem like your data will carry over.

No Plans for Witcher 1-2 HD Re-Releases
It's already HD. Move forward CDPR i'd say. Cyberpunk 2077 is waiting. Bring it on!

Why don't you go be smart in the Nintendo forums Mr. Man?!!!
According to Google, news is defined as:
newly received or noteworthy information, especially about recent or important events
source
Basically, and this doesn't just apply to video games, news is anything that disturbs the natural order and it's why so much news is often bad news. It's why a game not working, when it most certainly should at release, is news. It's why The Witcher 3 and CD Projekt Red received so much praise and coverage because of how dedicated they appeared to be simply by adding a thank you within the package.
@cainetao11: I agree with you man. This place, and the web, is a (sad) reflection of society in general: do the right thing, good things and you get ignored, but f*ck up just once and they're all over ya.
It's no wonder Miley Cyrus and Donald Trump are so popular.
I'm just posting here because it's a cainetao thread and he rarely makes threads. As per the topic - I have Witcher on PC. Tried getting into Witcher 2 on PC, but got bored. Am playing Witcher 3 though.
Good news, PC version better.
Even better news. Everyone knows this and we don't care.
Gaming journalism has become a lot like sports journalism. Positive things get brushed over while anything juicy or negative gets blown out of proportion. Look at Cam Newton for example. The man does tons for the kids off the field, his teammates love him and he's not in the news for run-ins with the law yet all the media does is call him cocky and arrogant for celebrating. Now mind you, every time J.J. Watt celebrates/dances it's all over SportsCenter as being the funniest thing ever. The media is full of shit and trying to get clicks. Cam Newton makes old white people anxious like the Xbox One does Cows. They both claim they aren't being hypocritical but it's not too hard to see them for what they are.
Good news, PC version better.
The controls aren't better.
Yeah they are,if you prefer M/KB.
I thought we were talking in absolutes, not preferences. In that case, the Xbox version is better than the PC if you prefer consoles.

you know you can use a controller on pc as well, just saying
Good news, PC version better.
You could tell me that the PS2 version of Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary are better than the respective Nintendo versions (GameCube and Wii) and I still, for the most part wouldn't care (there are so few games on where I DO care about getting the definitive versions on).
News is defined as newly received or noteworthy information. This is like bitching that you don't see a story about the president not being shot and enjoying a nice steak dinner with the family on the 6 o'clock.
It's the expectation that thing is working, and when it doesn't, THAT is newsworthy.
If it bleeds, it leads.
Good to hear Witcher 2 runs well on the X1. Got my copy downloaded and may play it sometime this year.

But when the recent norm (Halo Reach) was multiple threads on this one particular game with issues, its simply logical to bring to point that another game, this the prequel to this years GOTY, also being given to anyone with an X1 for free. Gamers did not need to ever own Witcher 2 on 360 in order to go to Xbox.com and order it at no charge, then see it in their 'ready to download' que.
