If Left4Dead doesn't win GOTY, it was robbed. Str8 up.

This is the most fun I've had with a game in a long time. And for those who vote based on offline play, you're in the wrong. Get with the times. Most games have an online mode of some sorts these days.

Co-op and versus have me hooked on this game. I have been playing it non-stop since the demo was released and don't see any reason why I'll slow down anytime soon.

Best bang for my buck in a long time. $45 for Steam pre-order and I've already spent more hours on the game and free demo than probably 90% of the games I've played in the last year.

 And for those who vote based on offline play, you're in the wrong. Get with the times.

MGS4 for GOTY.

TC, although it's a fun, fun game, it won't win GOTY.

THat will got to GTA4, MGS4, or some less than 10 game (Less than 10 = R2,GeoW2,LBP, SSBB).

It wont get GOTY, it lacks a strong story and the friendly AIs are completely retarded

It wont win GOTY because of the scope of the game and the length, but it will be my best game of the year for sure.

Actually, you're forgetting Left 4 Dead also runs on one of the most popular engines, great sound, fantastic coop, innovative AI, and alot of replayability.

yes i know but the point im making is left for dead is still an MP focused game. MP only games will not beat down games offering better SP modes with decent MP modes.

last year mario galaxy beat down all other contenders and it didnt have MP!

Well, to be blunt, a game doesn't need a superb single player to be a GOTY title. Nor should a game require single player in order to be GOTY. Just should have to be a superb game.

I don't see L4D winning GOTY though. Most likely multiplayer GOTY...if it doesn't win that i will be very dissapointed with GS. To me, Fallout 3 is up at the top in terms of GOTY. This however would not stop L4D from being the game with by far the most replay value of the entire year.

I can see it winning MP GOTY, but not overall GOTY.

However for me it's my GOTY for 2008. It's the most fun I've had this year.

Eeeh, the Orange Box isn't a game. It's a collection of expansions. None of them doing anything new at all. Plus, L4D is a survival horror, while Half Life 2 is a puzzle/FPS.

If you actually read earlier i say i don't think it'll win GOTY but you said there was nothing innovative about it and you're wrong. Never has their been an A.I. director along the lines of L4D making the game different every single playthrough. Makes the replayability infinite especially considering the mods/user maps that will be made for L4D on PC.

HL2 gameplay? It feels nothing like HL2...i seriously question 1. if you even played it and 2. how long you played it for...

Have you actually played both L4D and HL2 and Ep 1&2 from the Orange Box release? The entire FPS gameplay and control scheme is ripped from those games just because you fight different enemies with different A.I. from HL2 doesn't change the fact that the core gameplay is taken straight from the aforementioned games. I never said its bad its just I don't see any compelling reason to say L4D is innovative when much of the gameplay is taken straight from the Orange Box versions of HL2. If you took HL2 and replaced its enemies with the L4D zombies and their A.I. it would be the same gameplay as L4D and would still play exactly the same. How hard is that for you guys to understand? The enemies and the A.I. behavior are all that changed from a gameplay perspective. And how exactly is this A.I. that groundbreaking? Randomly respawning zombies is not exactly a revolution. The first wave of zombies all stand around doing nothing at first or are leaning against a wall, then any subsequent wave of zombies appear seemingly out of nowhere. Whats so special about that to you guys? Each playthrough is still the same, your still fighting the same zombies in the same areas just where the game decides to spawn a new wave of zombies is different woo hoo big change there.

While you are correct, that would imply that the single player had a story and that it was same every time through. That would also imply that the game was meant as a single player game.

I'd love to hear what games you thought are innovative if you honestly don't think the A.I. director in L4D is innovative (providing you have actually played it, which i'm doubting, and you understand how the A.I. director works, which i'm doubting as well).

Not only that, you claim all the A.I. director does is "spawn random zombies" which shows you know nothing about the A.I. Director in the game. Yo've already shown you know virtually nothing about the game other than "It feels like HL2" and "You get one main weapon and and unlimited ammo pistol". The A.I. director is at the core of this game. It is the reason it is different everytime and so replayable in every sense and mode of the game.

I own and beat HL2 and all of the Orange Box (except for Episode 1...which i already owned) on PC. :lol: It's the same engine...was L4D supposed to feel like Resident Evil or something? I missed the part where a game feeling like another incredible game was a bad thing. Not only that, HL2 is a superb title. It feels like HL2 in the fact that it's the same engine. That's about it. The atmosphere, gameplay, strategies (especially as undead in versus), and levels are all different. Come on, that's complete nonsense. The two games basically have nothing in common in terms of gameplay except that you shoot guns. L4D is a fast and hectic fight with hordes of enemies. HL2 is much slower, more focused on the story with puzzle elements. They don't feel the same at all. Not even the slightest bit. Just because they run on the same engine and use similar controls (like every other shooter) doesn't make them the same to play. Stop trolling, thanks.
