I would be very suprised if these two didn't get AAA.rhaigunsame here... BTW, Mass Effect is technically second party....although, it does have an exclusivity deal
Why does being first party matter?
And expect PC versions.

I think it matters a lot. If you can prove to third party developers that your console is a great platform by producing your own quality titles, you've got it made in my eyes.

It matters because it shows that MS can publish better games than sony.
But not develope, so I cares
That will put MS at 5 AAA 1st Party games in just 2 years!! Infact, thats even more AAA 1st party titles than Sony has with the PS2 for a 7 year old console!! Sure sony might have tons of AA 1st party titles for the PS2, but only few AAA 1st party titles. Yea 360 is unstopable.MikeCOD80
I know you just didn't say PS2 had less than 5 AAA 1st party titles... :|
Twisted Metal Black
Gran Turismo 3
God of War 1, 2
Jak II
Dark Cloud 2...

Obviously that's not true because Nintendo has consistently pumped out great first party titles for the N64 and GameCube lifespans and they have had mediocre 3rd party support during that time.[QUOTE="MikeCOD80"]That will put MS at 5 AAA 1st Party games in just 2 years!! I think MS will get quite a few more great titles till this gen ends couse they are so deep in the devs pockets its crazy!
Besides they aquired some of the bestgame developers,in the last few years Rare,Bungie,Lionhead,FASA,ensemble...and about a dozen young and small developers!
[QUOTE="peaceful_anger"]Is Mass Effect first party though? Honest question cause I don't know. I thought it was a game by a third party that is just exclusive to the 360. Same thing can be said about Gears of War. Is it because those games are published by MS which makes them first party?farrell2k
If it is published by MS, it is a 1st party title. It doesn't matter who devs it, the publisher ends up buying it. It's a 1st party game.
Lol.. Thats just BS.. Publishers does not own the games..

So if Halo 3 gets AAA (which it won't) you would negate it by saying 5 years from now it will be on PC? Im sorry but Halo 2 is a Xbox exclusive AAA because the PC version didnt even come out in the same gen and the same would be true for Halo 3.
[QUOTE="JiveT"][QUOTE="coakroach"][QUOTE="benjaminbuckner"]Mass Effect might get 8.5BlueBarad
Or less...
Or more...
Or the same...
I hope its a AAA worthy game because im looking foward to it more than just about any game (cept maybe HL: Episode 2. KOTOR was great and while its not KOTOR 3 it should at least come close to filling that void.

NO.
It does not quite work that way.
First Party = Company itself developes like Microsoft Game Studios, Sony Santa Monicaor Sony Japan Studios. They are also the publisher. Game is always exclusive.
Second Party = The Console Company publishes the game but the developer may be independent. Epic for Gears Of War is Second Party. The Console company is the publisher too. Game is generally exclusive.
Third Party = Independent company. Publishes independently. Game may or may not be exclusive.
You guys are nuts! Halo 3 will Definitely get over 9.0 and get a game of the year award. Mass effect will probably get over 9.0 to.
This is just a prediction but im 50% sure this is whats going to happen.
XileLord
Let me start by saying I love the Halo series. But no can be sure it will be AAA. All it needs is a few mistakes, a bit of repetative game play or something small to drop it from being 9.0 or above. I will be satisfied if it is 8.5 or around there I'm just concerned about people over hyping this.
Argh, just read the bit where you're 50% sure lol. Ok but my statement still stands.
