seriously, i can't believe people thought it was coming out this year. A march release seems just fine to me. This allows me to focus more on all the other great PS3 games coming out this fall.

Lair, GTA IV, Assassins Creed, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk....something tells me the PS3 will survive somehow until MGS4 comes out.

First of all, Sony's comeback year isn't going to be until 2008 no matter when MGS4 comes out. It's not expected to start overtaking the 360 until holiday '08... at which point there will be a large, diverse library and a certain price cut.

But chances are that MGS4 is still releasing in time for the holiday anyways. That would explain why Konami expects it to be the main driver of their entire fiscal year which began last month! The holiday season has the biggest impact on the fiscal year of all industry participants.

Yes, it will boost PS3 sales, but it won't catapult it above the other systems. Unfortunately, most PS3 gamers don't revolve around one game. But given the solid releases leading into the holiday season already... Sony will probably still make out pretty decently this holiday anyway.

These rumors are over why do people keep thinking Mgs4 will every come out 4 360, they said no already and confirmed on 1up that if it was to come on 360 its built to run on the ps3

Anyone who thinks that MGS4 not being out by Christmas isn't a big deal to Sony and the PS3 is seriously in denial. 

MGS4, GTA4 and Halo 3 are by far the biggest games that are scheduled to come out this year.  Obviously GTA4 is on both systems but if Sony loses their big holiday game anchor in MGS4 then there is a huge audience that they could potentially lose to the 360, or simply to no one at all.

Also, why is everyone still hyping Lair?  Almost every person who previewed it at the Sony conference last week said it sucked (something I've thought for 6 months).  Same goes for Heavenly Sword, but to a lesser extent, it might still pull it out.FoxHoundADAM

Because Lair is the next Rogue Squadron? That's what it looks like to me. And same goes for HS? EGM editers complained about the short 3 - 4 minute demo and complaints of just seeing arena fights when the game is stated to have adventure elemetns to it. We have yet to see any of these adventure elements. People want to see more of what HS offers. Not the same arena gameplay that we're already familliar with at last year's E3. And not to mention people aren't too thrilled with the "cinematic" button combiation with the game. Goddess of War? Absolutely. For now. Unless proven otherwise.

Really?  That sucks, but at least it gives me time to get a PS3 (I still probably won't have one by then, what with my brother going to college this year and me going to college in 2 years).

Oh well, they still have Lair, Drake's Uncharted or something, Jak and Daxter, and other games to fall back on (I have no idea about the release dates of any of these, can't be bothered to check).

Right now Little Big Planet is one of the few games keeping my somewhat interested in a PS3.  I'm a MGS fan but I'm a little burnt out on the franchise at the moment so my excitement is low for MGS4.FoxHoundADAM

Yeah, it's understandable.  Before, I was frothing at the mouth over MGS4, but when the game's released I probably won't notice until I see some reviews on Gamespot.

Now the wii is a top-selling product. Ps3 cant even "top" the 360 in sales. I wonder if people know or realize the that every month that the ps3 has been out in the states the 360 has out sold them.

I hate the whole "Nintendo is kiddy argument" too, but I think the difference is that Mario is viewed as kiddy, and it is Nintendo's biggest IP's.  That's the difference, whereas Little Big Planet is one game.
