Anyway, to answer the thread, if MGS4 flops... [which it won't] ... then PS3's gonna bleed, because the next big things, GTA4 and Assassin's Creed, will be greener on the other side.
If MGS4 flops I will be very dissapointed with Kojima and Sony. Not that I'm a fan of Sony's decisions now anyway but MGS is one of my favorite franchises. I would hate for it to end on a bad note.

There are many other titles that 360 owners have to look forward to. Unlike the PS3. The ps3 has a better line up this imo year your opinion is not a fact , get over it!
MGS3 flopped? WTF?!?!? That was about my all time favorite game ever. Please don't base the quality of a game on the views of a single tard critic...be it either here at GS or any other site. If you did not play MGS3, then I suggest you go out and get it now. It was truly an amazing game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 would only flop here because some editors seem to be biased against it... MGS1 and 3 anyone? 8.5 and 8.7 respectively? You can practically hear the editors groaning over giving 2 a 9.6 although each and everyone deserved AAA status.
I don't care if it gets a 1.0 as long as it holds true to what Hideo Kojima and Konami have been providing to us for the past two decades now. And yes, I would buy a PS3 for just this game if I had to, although I'd prefer a 360 version to save money... but that's not the point.

Everyone is out there hyping Mass Effect, but Bioware's last game didn't get AAA. People keep talking about Fable 2, but last time I checked, Lionhead's last game wasn't AAA either.

I'm a big time fighting game fan, period. But Tekken is my absolute favorite. I don't like block buttons. :|
But I have changed my tune ever since Virtua Fighter 5 released. More like Barebones Figher 5. Dead or Alive 4 is a better game IMO. It's got online. Tekken 5 : DR is a better game, the single player mode has a better diversity of competition.
The game has been in development for a while now, they've even delayed the game to allow for more time. They're obviously working hard on it and an MGS game has never dissappointed me in the past, I doubt they're going to start with the "finale."
But if it does flop, there's still Resistance, Tekken, Devil May Cry, Ratchet and Clank, Jak, Gran Turismo, Heavenly Sword, Lair as exclusives and third-party games like Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Half-Life, Unreal Tournament 3, Elder Scrolls, and much more.
i think the TC is asking a question to fanboys who claim that no matter how bad the PS3 is doing now those AAA titles will save it and somehow make people want to buy PS3's seeing as no one really wants one right now (as 25% of all units shipped are stuck on the market) i'd think if they flopped it should only be called a flop at a 8 rating or lower. they might still be good titles but there suppose to save it in fanboys eyes and apparently the consumer will agree to the price tag coz of these titles. i don't think consumers will think that way but if they did flop it would be pretty critical to Sony in the gaming market. if a few of their only exclusive 3rd party titles flop what do they have left? just final fantasy and how for sure is that?
but i think MGS4 will be good and hope its ported to other consoles as rumors indicate.
DMC 4 though, i really don't think this game has been original since its first game. its good. but still repetitive. i feel the same way for GTA 4. it hasn't been anything new since GTA 3 and i have a feeling rockstar will do as they always do with that series and copy the third one, being as it is the best.

That's no truth. That's a prediction. Sony still has the Final Fantasy series. As long as it has that, there's still a large base of customers for Sony.

In terms of overall sales it wouldn't make as big a difference as if say...Halo 3 or SSBB flopped because the Metal Gear Solid series hasn't sold as well as it probably should have. For me personally if MGS4 turned out very poorly it would mean just staying with Wii60 for this gen instead of PSWii60.

See that is the keyword is, "If" but as a fan of the series, we already know it wont flop, I can guarantee that the story, gameplay, graphics and ending to this MGS series will be the most amazing expirience us MGS fans will never forget. Also look for Kojima to maybe add an online multiplayer for MGS4 because of the ps3, games are way better online then they have been with the ps2. Didnt really work out with MGS 3 Subsistance because alot of ps2 owners didnt really go online. Now with the ps3 and with good online service I am quite impressed with RFOM and Motorstorm and Madden online. Just need more games but I know dey are coming. Till den game on. :)
One game can't make or break a system, I personally have had little interest in MGS since the PS1 days, but I will take a look at it when it finally releases. It could be horrible and casuals would snap it up so I think theres no way MGS4 can hurt the PS3, it can only help it.

Ooohhh.... DoA 4 is a better fighter than VF 5... man. Heh, i just don't like either. I love Tekken the most, but I wouldn't pay 600 for a fighting game alone anymore though, those have passed me by.
