I am not sure if "what if?" senarios are allowed. I apologize if there not. I know this would never happen and I hope there is never the slightest thought of it in MS mind's. So for those who have not bought the HD-DVD add on what would you do or feel if you were forced to buy the $180 addon to further use your 360. I would be a sad panda if I had too and most likely, being a sucker for games, end up buying it, while mubling "Curse you MS!"

No MS owns the HD DVD technology. But it doesnt matter anyway because the XBOX 360 console isnt a HD DVD player so the HD technology wouldnt work on it like the Blu Ray works on the PS3.

duh that is why you have to buy the HD DVD playerseparate from the 360.

Microsoft doesn't own HD-DVD. It's mainly Toshiba.

I bought the Sega CD and would've bought the 64DD if it was ever released. So yeah, I'd buy this.

Microsoft isn't that stupid. Alienating 10 million customers is a bad idea. Think about it, have games on bigger discs that may or may not affect the games themselves or royally piss off 10 million customers who spent about $400 each on a product that they assumed would play any 360 game ever made in the future.

There would be a few business strategies they could implement, the most obvious is bundling an HD-DVD game with the player at the same price, with MS (or perhaps Toshiba) taking the cost.

basically any notion MS would have of success in the console market would be over....that simple. i would expect that the market would react so badly to such a development that the 360 sales would plummit and 720 sales would never take off. any game released on HD-DVD would also be a sales disaster obhiously.

its not going to happen though. i simply cant imagine any company trying something that stupid in the console market.
