Lets say M$/Sony get tired of burning cash (360 RROD warranty escape/PS3 Cell debacle) and see how Nintendo is laughing and sweating all the way from the bank carrying all that cash....and decide enough is enough....

So what we get is both machines with SAME hardware with some kind of motion control....

If they do that what you gonna do?

lol my *** off. By that time Nintendo's new casual base will be getting more sophisticated and Microsoft and Sony will be in their infancy stages of copying the big N, and probably doing it wrong to boot.

I have no problem with that...Just as long as MS or Sony could measure it out by releasing MORE hardcore games than casual ones.

not gonna happen.

the hardware will improve. i still do not want to see motion controls. just improve the hardware.

but if it happens. the graphics will be improved, the hardware better, hopefully better hardware quality, and probably motion controls. but atleast we get the graphics to go with it hopefully.

ill be pissed if the the graphics are not improved with the hardware and they take a ninty approach.

Without improvements in hardware there cannot be improvements in games. Motion control is a novel idea but it seems underdeveloped on the Wii.

I qould welcome motion sensing controls with open arms if they implement it correctly and actually put it to really good use.

Then very sadly, after 22 years of gaming (will be more than that by then) I will hang up my controllers for good.

Still may play some pc games though.

That wouldn't happen, but hypothetically, then I would convert to strictly PC gaming untill said companies pull their heads out of their ... wallets.

Nintendo followed the Sony route. Sony lost its way by trying to cater to the hardcore. They'll find their way back.

MS is already heading that way. Look at them promote Lips. They want that game to do extremely well.

PC is the most casual system out there, even more so than the Wii. Not one game can beat out Solitaire and the myriad of free casual games on the internet that the PC has access to.

Handhelds are already casual.

It may the most casual system but it does offer a vast library of the most "hardcore" games available both new and old. The Wii's target market is bending far more towards appealing to non-gamers than it is to the cores... they still offer many core games but not nearly as many as they used to nor the amount on PC.

Who's talking about core games? We're talking about casual games. Please don't go off subject. All that stuff you wrote still doesn't make it untrue that the most casual system is the PC. In fact, since those casual games haven't affected the PC's performance, why is everyone fretting as if having casual games on any system is a bad thing? Just boggles the mind.

I think the Wiimote will be a standard from now on. There are just more benefits to having motion control than not having it. We really are getting closer and closer to virtual reality and I'm glad this is happening, and hopefully it'll be realized in my lifetime cause I'd hate to miss out on this revolution.

virtual reality will never happen because it will deal with your mental state. ANything that confuse you and make you see and react to things that aren't really there will cause problems. I was once excited about that concept, but i think it is best not to get involve with something that can really do harm.

Also unless motion sensing really proves itself it can't become a standard. It hasn't really shown its benefits.

But the casual games on the Wii are affecting the core offerings... they are becoming fewer and far between as time goes on while we are bombarded by shelf-loads of crap. There are some great games on the Wii but there is far, *far* too much crap. At least the PC offers a fair dose of everything for everyone.

They won't.

It's simple; Nintendo + hardcore= lose

Nintendo - hardcore= a crapload of gamers who said, "Screw it, I'm going elsewhere."

If they go casual, they lose a TON, if not all of their fanbase.

Not only that, but they'll be exposed as copycats, and suddenly that's one fanbase they'll never recover.

We'll see about virtual reality. It's quite possible that our vision of virtual reality will be quite different from the actual realization. I'm just glad we're taking steps towards it rather than relying purely on buttons.

Well, I think you're wrong about that. Motion control has actually shown a lot of benefits including bringing more people into the folds of gaming. If you think about it, the Wii is truly the first successful system to effectively bring motion sensing technology to the masses. This could have further implications outside of gaming. I wish I could think up of some examples, but if I could, I would probably be a millionaire rather than working for scraps here right now

I just think there will be a lot that will come out of this.

How are they affecting the core offerings? Did you see TGS? Loads of core games being announced along with casual games. And it only seems like it's few and far between because generally, core games take longer to make than casual games. This has always been the case. Do you think that the 360 or PS3 would not be inundated with shovelware if they were the leading console saleswise? Imagine the start of this year. Casual game after casual game being released until last month. You would feel that the core games would also be few and far in between as well.

But they still aren't releasing what's most important... the next 2D Metroid. I'd say SEGA is doing a better job with core games on the Wii than Nintendo.
