If Nintendo regains core third party support, would we need a PS4 and Xbox 720?

"Nintendo doesn't care about power" "3rd parties hate Nintendo consoles" "I only buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games" "If you want 3rd party games, you buy another console" "Nintendo is kiddy"

If Nintendo successfully puts all these stigmas to rest with their next console, what would be the point of getting PS4 and Xbox 720? PC ports? Halo? 2160p? Overhyped Sony exclusives? :P

Yes we would. Not every game will be on the "Cafe" and if they keep their online like it is now then it won't appeal to many online gamers.

Nintendo never really had core third party support. Nintendo has always had this problem because they, unlike their competitors, develop a lot of their own games. Nintendo's next system could have the best online and graphicsin the world and still not get the 3rd party support that Sony and Microsoft enjoy.

PS4 for sony exclusives? XBox 720 for MS exclusives? People bought wii for nintendo exclusives, why wouldnt they for the other console manufacterers.

I won't.

Hell, I probably won't anyway. PC and Cafe for me next gen, unless MS/Sony really blow me away and give me reasons I just have to have their systems.

I wouldn't. If titles like this years Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Mortal Kombat, LA Noire, Arkham City, RAGE, Hitman, Assassin's Creed, and so many more were on Nintendo, I'd be super happy :)

If this leaked list is true, then they would have regained 3rd party support.

Nathan Drake spits on you! lol I will likely get a PS4 for the exclusives, but PC is first and foremost, and I am hoping to become a big Nintendo fan again (I like them, but the Wii dissapointed) with the Cafe.

Exactly! Nintendo would have a lot to gain by the homogenization of 3rd party support bufferred by system selling exclusives.

It will share them with 360/PS3 until 720 comes a year later. It will then share games with the 720. Answer to the OP: Maybe, the 360 controller is the best one yet and the online on 360 is superb. Sony is irrelevant though.

Nintendo will have the most powerful console and will get a ton of 3rd party support for sure but.. their network sucks!!! PSN may be lacking when compared to XBL but Nintendos network "plz insert name here" is terrible!!! What are they doing about this, or do they even recognize this as an issue?

Agreed. Nintendo should have a competent online service and a good controller to compete. If there's anything to be learned from the 360, is that you don't need Sony for third party support anymore.

If? What if mermaids & unicorns were real?? Nintendo will use new tech for their games. They wont change from sesame street system to porn & violence with one system. They should stay in their lane.

Yes, because we need competition. Plus I doubt that most 3rd party games will be exclusive to Project Cafe, seeing as we've seen most 3rd party games being multiplat between the 360 & PS3 due to higher development costs. Not to mention that development costs will probably go even higher next gen.

It sounds like the next Nintendo will be a half step at best towards the next generation. That means it will limit itself to limited 3rd party support over the life of the console. It will get Xbox 360/PS3 ports then will get few next Xbox/PS4 ports (if any).

Consoles caught between generations while trying to appeal to 'core' gamers don't do well. Based on the preliminary reports the next Nintendo is a half step at best towards the next generation.

So 6x PS3/360 isn't enough for "next gen"? The 360 was only 4x the original Xbox. If the rumoured specs are correct it will compete with 720/PS4 because 1. Microsoft will only release a year after Nintendo therefore not much power difference. 2. Sony will not go the route of the PS3 again and lose billions therefore weaker console. So, when will my gf get pregnant then?

Based on the preliminary specs the next Nintendo is barely more powerful than the PS3/Xbox 360 and therefore more of a half step towards the next generation (like the Sega Dreamcast).

Unless Sony and Microsoft loses 3rd party support for their current gen console thanks to Nintedo gaining 3rd Party Support for Cafe/ Stream then no. I mean, Who ever said all the consoles can't have descent 3rd party support? It's all in the way they present their console.

I know, I should have a wii :P here's what happened. the wii was my only console for the first 2 years of this gen, but then 2009 was such a bad year for the wii I had to sell it for the ps3. I didn't have a lot of money, (wasn't old enough to work) so that was the only thing I could have done, instead of just buying the ps3 and keeping my wii.

I'll just wait for the cafe, and get the top wii titles I missed from 2010 onwards :) eh, I'll probably end up getting the ps4 as well, with sony's incredible dev teams I'll surely miss out on a lot if I don't get it :P

That won't happen. At least not with Western developers. I can even see Square making a main Final Fantasy title for Cafe along with the other consoles (hell, they even gave Nintendo the Dragon Quest exclusivity for this gen, which is an even bigger deal for Square than Final Fantasy, at least in Japan) and many Japanese developers will support it, but Western developers won't. There were no technical reasons for the Gamecube not getting a GTA game, but it still didn't. And no, Mini DVDs were not the reason. I've checked several ISO sites and games like San Andreas, GTA 3 and Vice City would fit in there nicely.

Western developers don't like platforms with lots of first party exclusives. If they can avoid them, they will.

Now you're just plucking crap out of your arse. Those weren't official specs, they are as believeable as the recent leak. We have yet to receive the real specs from Nintendo.

The source never listed specific specs but did state the next Nintendo isn't much more powerful than the Xbox 360. And this source was correct on the Nintendo Cafe rumors and NGP specs.

[QUOTE="7suarez7"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]The source who leaked the next Nintendo (and was right) back in April also added it was a bit more powerful than the Xbox 360.KC_Hokie

Yet it is still nothing official from Nintendo. Also, what Cafe "rumours" was it correct on? We've yet to even SEE the Cafe, lmao. IGN said it will be at least 3 times as powerful as 360, IGN. Now we have this new spec sheet showing it to be 6x as powerful. We shall see in 6 days.

This source was correct on everything down to the controller weeks before Nintendo confirmed all of it. We'll see about the spec at E3 but don't be shocked to hear the next Nintendo is a half step towards the next generation at best.

IGN even stated that the 3DS is just about as powerful as a 360, but it really isn't. I doubt that they'll be right about the Project Cafe's specs.

You mean the controller we are yet to see? Ok. And if it IS 6x 360 would you agree that it IS a next gen console? Anything from 4-6x is enough for me.

They've nailed everything so far including NGP specs. And, again, I'm going by a source that has been right on everything so far.

Nintendo has been pretty much terrible with online features for the last two generations. Until they have some semblence of a cohesive online strategy I would never be satisfied with just their console.

Well we've yet to see the FULL specs of the 3DS or what it's capable of. It's already more powerful than the Wii which is less than 4 times weaker than 360. But of course 360 is way more powerful than 3DS.
