**If Nintendo Wins**

Will we see Sony "dumb down" their PS4?  Like removing nex gen format drives, built in wifi, reduce the size of the HDD(20gig) maybe not even include one, remove memory slots making the PS4 affordable the moment it hits stores just to keep up in sales?

Should the PS4 become soly a gaming console rather then a all in one media machine?

The PS3 is double what the PS2 was not only in price but tech wise and what it offers, so I ask how can you love the PS2 but not the PS3 when its the PS2 times 2 in every aspect?

Because sensible people dont love hardware (unless you are a technophile, but then what are you doing with a game console anyway). Sensible people love games. And PS3 does not beat PS1 or PS2 in games, and probably never will.

So you think they should try and out do what the PS3 offers or at least match it meaning it will once again be marked at 600 a price everyone has been complaining about.

The Wii was not "dumbed down" it was just not upgraded to the point that the 360 and PS3 were. That was Nintendo's strategy. They are using it to recapture userbase from Sony and MS.foxhound_fox

I never said Nintendo dumbed down their console, they just never really upgraded it.

How is the Wii dumbed down? Last time i checked consoles usually double their power each generation....which is what the Wii did over the gamecube... The PS3 is overkill, trying to be too many things to to many people and not doing a very good job at any of them (at the moment). If anything they will look back, see what gamers and people really want, and build their console usuing that, instead of trying to push an unproven disc format and overhyped "super" processor.VideoGameGuy

In 5 years the PS3's components will be dirt cheap. If they get rid of Blu-ray, wifi, HDD, cell, etc. theyll be more last-gen then the Wii.

They're probably better off just upgrading most of the PS3's components but not by too much so they can try to keep it within the 300-400 range.

I have a PS2, but instead of an Xbox 360 or PS3 I bought a Wii... (I'll get one or the other later, when there are more games I want to play)

So yes nintendo recaptured some of the fanbase.

The issue with the PS3 is that Sony got so caught up cramming technology into the machine that they made it hard to program for and expensive to program for, driving away developers. They made it expensive to the consumer, driving away potential buyers, including me. They considered everything when making the PS3... except for other people's budgets.

That's why I want Nintendo to win. Not just because I love my Wii, but because they serve as a check to the tech race to insanity that Sony and MS seem intent upon running.

Indeed if Nintendo have the upper hand I believe next gen they will likely laugh off their newly adopted its not all about graphics stance and try to crush the competition on all fronts, a direction they were trying for with the N64 but failed due to not upgrading one crucial component, storage media.

By the time that next gen rolls around, HD tvs will have a much larger install base.  Nintendo's next gen system will probably be on par, or a little ahead of the PS3, and 360, but using more tried-and-true technology, that is more affordable, and less likely to fail.  Last of all, we already know that the next Ninty system will have HD.  As for the rest... only time will tell.

No, PS4 will retain all that while the Wii is already outdated last gen.  If it didn't die last gen, it will die this gen for sure if N sticks with the same formula. 

to people who think the future consoles will be dumbed down if the wii wins. TECHNOLOGY WILL ALWAYS ADVANCE NO MATTER WHAT! I know most fanboys think the wii is weaker than the n64....but it is an improvement over the GC weather you want to believe it or not.

The amount of technical increase that we see from one gen to the next will differ depending on the company though. But I highly doubt we will ever go backwards like some of you paranoid graphic whores think and fear.

Ps3 tried something new. They did something only sony can pull off. Any other console maker would have been long died. Its great that sony is taking a risk. Its makes the console war more interesting. Its boring totally dominating your comepetition like the ps1 and ps2 did.
