With Xbox closing down, selling off, and downsizing 1st Party, that would probably never happen as far as Sony's IP's.
Many of those teams would probably lose their culture, if not be closed off, sold off, or downsized. I don't think it would be a good thing...some of these games may not have even existed, or future IP's we can't fathom.
Xbox is more content with spending a little to secure timed exclusive 3rd Party games/DLC rather than invest big on making a new franchise/IP. That's recently though, at the beginning of Xbox and 360, they tried (Azurik, Bloodwake, Fable, Halo, Too Human, GeoW). The current strategy seems to be working better than the old ones. Plus, heavy 3rd Party marketing with Xbox only logos help sell product, and convince some public that perhaps a multiplat is an exclusive. It's cheaper, and more effective.
As far as Movie deals, Sony is owns Columbia, Tristar, Sony Pictures, and has stakes in other companies (MGM!)...in fact, there is rumblings of an Uncharted film (You know how those rumors sometimes pan out, take it with a grain of salt.).
These past few years Sony has lost it, to say the least. Their quality of hardware went down a few notches (but I've heard they on/near top in TVs again) and they tossed out what made them won the last two gens out the window(coming out first with the cheaper/cheapest console). All the nice new IPs and services are an attempt to make up for their money loss on hardware with good software sales. Although what's really sad is that they were just addressing their fanbase's complaints about weak hardware and all that, and they ended up kicking themselves in the ass for it. None the less though their IPs are awesome! But image if Microsoft had them, they would actually put them to good use. Uncharted; Drake would become the main icon (besides Master Chief) of gaming. He is already a very good Indiana Jones type of character, with some good marketing he could easily get a movie deal and become a very well known gaming character. Ratchet and Clank: They would become the icons of family gaming. They would probably get their own Saturday morning cartoon (hopefully not by 4Kids though :P), they're already a big counter to Mario IMO. Killzone: I don't know why everyone is calling it a gears rip off, it's closer to Call of Duty the way I see it. Doesn't get a lot of attention because the PlayStation doesn't have much of a shooting fanbase. But Microsoft could turn this into their own personal Call of Duty game and give Avtivision a run for their money with a darker, gritty, and outright cooler infantry shooter game. Forgive my poor grammar and spelling, I just woke up. :P Discuss!NerkconImagine if Sony had all of MS's IP's......

1. But he is well known and there is an Uncharted movie (in development).
2. Not necessarily. They haven't done that with Banjo Kazooie. In fact that game sold quite badly, R & C most likely wouldn't be as popular as an Xbox franchise.
You do realise Sony own their own film production company don't you? *cough*Columbia Pictures *cough*
EDIT: Hmm seems they also own the television production company under the same name. well, there goes your arguement.

Seeing this MS would just shut them down because they're not making the green.
Halo and gears are heavily marketed because they do the numbers and boy do they do em fast!
Just so MS could rush them out of the door and milk them and not take the generation of gaming any further. No thanks.
P.S. What franchises have been known from MS besided Geow or Halo? Sony has lost more worth while franchise's than MS has made into something worth while.

I can't think of other M$ ip
If Microsoft had Sony IPs, they would make as much money as they could before they became a burden and then shut them down, just like they did with Rare.
Milk them? They already have sequels to them all... If they get a third next year for uncharted and killzone and metal gear solid, that's milking all without ms... Go figure, Sony milked their cow all by themselves.Just so MS could rush them out of the door and milk them and not take the generation of gaming any further. No thanks.

i thought sony had sony picture entertainment, at least thats what shows up on my 007 movies now but he is not talkin about tv /movies , , they cant continue playstation using their other markets ,profits because then how they gonna make another movie if they use it for playstation look at sega , , they ended console production cause they could not afford it instead they do arcades and games nintendo has already said the minute they stop making consoles is the minute they stop period! and as some one said ms closed their studios so no ms wont be getting anything if anything ,, sony will go back and help nintendo gameswise , , and develope multiplats ,, like on snes /nesThese past few years Sony has lost it, to say the least. NerkconI stopped reading here. The quality of their software has been FAR from disappointing and the best of the 4 platforms IMO in terms of exclusives
Wow, I have never seen such an idiotic tornado of nonsense spun here until today. MS would do great with these IP's? Really? They wouldn't milk the hell out of Halo and any game they got, and axe whatever could be considered creative? Really?
