It is 100% guaranteed that any game you make on the PS3 will NOT be pirated. Yet we still see games like Burnout Paradise/NBA2k9/RE5/SFIV/GTAIV going full multiplat. Imagine R* making the GTAIV PS3 exclusive billions would have to pay for it even the most hardcore pirate dominated areas like China and Russia. Just imagine the market penetration. One wouldnt be just limited to USA/EU/Japan but go truly global.

here you go again with this mess. How many links to people have to provide to you of bluray being cracked before you stop creating these threads?? Bluray movies are cracked and pirated, games are not.....what does that tell you?? Also, going by your logic, why arent PS3s software sales higher than any other current gen console?? or PC for that matter, and PC piracy is the worst!!!

Actually you can burn and pirate Ps3 games, the firmware crack was released 2 months ago, I posted asking what people thought about it, it got locked but yeah.

I've been able to rip and play Ps3 games for awhile, though there hasn't been much to do that with lately.

well i guess my last post was wrong

blu-rays have been cracked for a while now, and the biggest reason why they dont pirate blu-ray games is because its easier/faster to do using the DVD9 format. Please stop making threads about this, its the same recycle topic over and over.

i tried to tell him, i even showed him dozens of links showing that the movies were cracked, extracted, and put on DVDs because it was cheaper to mass produce than bluray, but he just refuses to believe it.

Here is the link to what i was talking about, they extract the bluray movie, encode it in AVHCD (mpeg4) and sell them as "HD discs" because its too expensive to buy the discs. So what is the explanation for games other than lack of consumer interest??

Did you ever read me saying that BR hasnt been cracked? Nope?....So what Im saying is that its not the popularity not the media cost (which is still 8-1) but the fact that there is not a single PS3 on the planet that can play back up games.....all this after 29 months. Do you deny that?

PS3 sales are generally higher than PC sales for multiplat games

so find me the steam sales for cod4, orange box fallout 3 gta4, grid mass effect left 4 dead, far cry 2 etc then we will talk. ea said it made 400million from digital only sales for pc games last year what does that tell you? pc retail market is dying and going digital.

just cause bluray gets cracked doesn't mean youll be able to pirate games. The ps3 has part of its cell dedicated just to system security so I doubt it will happen.

What are you talking about, it seems you are really crying for attention now:? Either way, however bad the piracy on the 360 is, truth is, is still sells software and the vast majority of multiplats it does better than the PS3.

How to get past Blu-ray protection for films.

1) Get a Blu-ray disk drive.

2) Use AnyDVD HD or a similar program to remove the Blu-ray DRM and rip the Blu-ray to HDD.

3) Use a compatible program to convert the Blu-ray film into a suitable HD format, I use Badaboom to convert to 1080p MP4.

4) Enjoy your DRM free HD film.

Anyone here with a Blu-ray disk drive can do this, there are trial versions of both AnyDVD HD and Badaboom for people to try it out themselves. This is perfectly legal; as the law dictates you can make a personal backup of your films, as long as you don't distribute you are fine.

The only reason PS3 piracy is not rampant is because it is impractical to distribute those massive disk images over the internet, few people can also afford a Blu-ray disk burner at this time. It's easy to get past Blu-ray protection, PS3 piracy is just not practical.

No, BR tech has already been cracked. Its just that the PS3 has some tough safeguards to prevent people from playing pirated games from a copy Blu-Ray or off the HDD.

I have to agree here.

Many of my friends would've bought GTAIV for PS3 if it was exclusive, instead they just downloaded it for the 360...

Same with DMC4

Same with RE5

If piracy was a factor then ps3 still wouldn't be market leader.

1.ps3 games aren't good enough to make it market leader.

2.if ps3 is unhackable then piraters aren't gonna buy ps3 they are gonna buy 360 to get the games they want pirated.

3.no ps3 sales to those pirates means no market leadership.

Piracy isnt how the adverts make out. People arent buying burnt discs from sellers, they are sitting at home and downloading over night. It can take up to 10 hours to download a 700mb movie depending on the sharers. Why on earth would anybody spend days downloading a PS3 game?? Especially when the larger the file the greater the chance it stopping or you are caught by your ISP.

DVD size downloads are the sensible limit at the moment in the piracy world. Anything larger and you're being a Muppet.

lol, its the same encryption :P The only difference is that PS3 games HAVE TO BE on bluray discs, or they wont play. it CAN BE DONE, but just burn it on a bluray, and mass produce them, would be way to expensive for a small town pirate, as they dont have the advantage of buying them wholesale, are in bulk as large companies do. So its just not financially viable, and that is the ONLY barrier.

The point isn't pirating, the point is 45 million combined base > ~20 million base on a cingle console.

use your own math dude, if ONE bluray costs 8 bucks, and i can get 50 blank DVDs at walmart for the same price, what does that do to a hackers bottom line?? Seriously, you pay 60 bucks for a game, then you gotta buy hundreds of blank blurays (100x8= $800) now you still gotta have a burner so now you are at $1040 and you havent even done anything. You would have to sell those pirated games at near retail to turn a profit. Who in their right mind will buy a $50 copy, when they can buy a $60 REAL copy??? Does that make sense to you???

So it really cheaper to pay $60 per game? A BR RW is $180....a blank disk $8 do your math. Im amazed how people deny and damage control.....face it the PS3 hasnt been cracked regardless of thousands attempts in 29 months....True_Gamer_

i don't think so...

http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/03/21/1241234&from=rss (sorry, not liking the link)

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=165699

now, granted, the first link is for BR Movies, and the second still has a ways to go, but it has, indeed, been cracked.

secondly, if a pirate was trying to make money off hacked games, why would they want to even bother with PS3, when they can pirate 360 discs substantially cheaper?

It is 100% guaranteed that any game you make on the PS3 will NOT be pirated. Yet we still see games like Burnout Paradise/NBA2k9/RE5/SFIV/GTAIV going full multiplat. Imagine R* making the GTAIV PS3 exclusive billions would have to pay for it even the most hardcore pirate dominated areas like China and Russia. Just imagine the market penetration. One wouldnt be just limited to USA/EU/Japan but go truly global.

No guaranteed at all. There are already people out there who can pirate PS3 games. The problem is that it's too expensive. blu-ray burners are probably a lot and hard to come by right now. Whereas DVD burners are readily available. That's the only reason PS3 games aren't pirated at any high rate. Once Blu-Ray burning because mainstream, you're going to see lots of pirated PS3 games. The fact that all those games you mentioned are on the PC, they will always be pirated. I do see any of those game ever being exclusive on the PS3.

I hate hearing this excuse. People are looking for ways to crack NO MATTER WHAT. And even then, the same thing was true back in the PSone days and yet piracy was rampant, heck buying a Blu-Ray writer and blank discs is cheaper than buying a CD writer and blank CDs then.

Yeah, thanks to that rampant piracy on the Xbox 360, multiplatform titles on the PS3 consistently outperform their Xbox 360 counterparts! High Five!

Wait a minute...

I don't pirate games because the games that you can pirate are crappy like 360 and PC. Just being honest...
