Sony should refund the money paid since the Vita will no longer exist. But, that ain't gonna happen.
What are you talking about? Refund what money? You buy it, it's yours. you run the risk of any product being discontinued and unsupported when you buy it. That's how it is.Sony should refund the money paid since the Vita will no longer exist. But, that ain't gonna happen.

IN a worst-case scenario the Vita will still get some nominal 1st party support. The Gamecube would be a good parrallel. Sony wouldn't just outright ditch the entire thing. Hell they even kept releasing UMD movies even long after it was confirmed that the UMD was a failed movie format.
Why would Nintendo get lazier? The GBA was one of the best handhelds and it had no completion. Nintendo wasn't lazy with that handheld.I doubt they will, but I'd be a sad person if they did. Nintendo would just get lazier, because they can. On top of that, I'm highly anticipating many titles for the Vita.

The Vita would have to sell literally 3-5 million units worldwide by the end of this fiscal year (March 31st, 2013) for that to happen.
I don't know, I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for the Vita but I assume SOMETHING good has to spur sales or else there will be no reason for third parties to support it.
In other news, Nintendo projects they will sell 18.5 million 3DS units in this fiscal year, anyone taking bets on whether the Vita will sell 1/4 or 1/3 or that in the same time frame?

They'd be able to concentrate on getting all the casuals back from iOS/Android so I doubt they'd be lazy if that was the case
They have already given us quite a few free games motorstorm rc table soccer treasures of montezuma blitz But just like 3ds's free games I not interested in them. They just need to get more games out and a price dropp4s2p0
Therein lies the problem.
You can't have more games, i.e. support from developers, unless there is good hardware sales. Sony can try really hard and deliver a great first party line up, but if consumers don't buy it then there's little they can do.
Let's hope they turn the ship around for the sake of gaming, because even if you don't own or want a Vita it's existence helps all of gaming

Yeah if the Vita died off Nintendo woud still have the cell phone market to compete. I personally don't think the cell phone market is going anywhere for games but I'm sure Ninty would do something about it.What are you talking about? Refund what money? I know that. It can never happen. I was just making a bad joke. It's still not gonna happen.
hopefully unlock features like psone classics and letting remote play on all ps3 games that would be a good way to try and get something out of the system. plus allow homebrew make it open source. doubt any of this will happen than again i don't they will can it.
if sony cans the vita...many many sony fanboys will be pissed...betrayed. theyll jump to xbox or nintendo and never buy a sony handheld ever.
but honestly///the only way sony will drop the vita is if they are almost going out of business or something.
KBFloYd
It would make more sense to drop so they don't have to go out of business, not that I'm saying it will make them do so.
But when you're facing possible closing you cut all stuff that doesn't make money. The Vita isn't making them money with poor hardware/software sales. Of course this isn't for sure to keep happening, they could turn it around but unless something happens within a year or two and it continues to lose money across the board they would probably ask themselves the same question most other businesses would've already asked: Why should we bleed more money in this product?
This is the 3DS all over again. Everyone was sure the 3DS was going to crash and burn. If E3 comes around and Sony completely ignore the PSV I'd be worried, until then people should just chill.danish-death
This 4x as bad as the 3DS actually, based on hardware/software sales.

People seem to forget this. Cows loved saying the 3DS was dead when it would only sell about 17k units for the week in Japan. When was the last time Vita was even close to that? They won't. Japanese companies have too much pride. But they probably need too. LOL at anyone who thinks Sony would refund their money.

I wonder how long Cows will cling to the hope of Vita turning around just because Nintendo turned around the 3DS.I think at E3 the truth will begin to set in.
Sony won't can it outright, and since they can't lower the price it'll just be a slow moving system with hardly any quality software.

This mentality seems to be cows' security blanket of denial. Nothing to deny I still like vita more than psp even if it isn't selling as well. Though I am disappointed with 3rd party support since I had more of them on psp early on Least team ninja made it up to me since I missed ninja gaiden on psp. Now I wanna see some of the other big names I always play like need for speed, spiderman, splinter cell, tony hawkSony won't can it outright, and since they can't lower the price it'll just be a slow moving system with hardly any quality software.

I'm sure they'll pull it out somehow. It's too crazy to think of a PS console failing IMO. I'm sure it will do bad, but not that bad.
But hey, times are a changing! You never know what will happen honestly. Hopefully this teaches Sony to not rely on the "Sell hardware at a loss" strategy when there is no software being bought,
