If Sony doesn't do something soon the XBOX might be the new Playstation...

Even the casuals are starting to figure out that the PS3 has no games, and the 360 has all the good games.  And with the steep PS3 price tag it isn't helping any.  When Microsoft keeps coming out with more and more big name titles they are winning over more and more casuals that are on the edge with Sony.  Halo 3 could be a major blow to the PS3 if they don't get some casual friendly games out soon.  Or really any games for that matter.  Then all the casuals who are Sony fanboys will become casuals who are XBOX fanboys. 

Only problem is the 360 still isn't selling to Japan. Microsoft needs to really try to win these people over because the way things are going now the 360 is taking over the PS3 everywhere else.

With Japan and to some degree Europe , the 360 has no shot at becoming anywhere close to the ps2 unless Sony quits making ps3s.

The best that one could hope for is 9 million per year (for how may years this time  Microsoft ? lol)

The 360 can never be the next playstation.  It doesn't appeal to casuals, thus it will never sell more than mabey 35m.  The Wii on the other hand is only 4 months old yet has sold over 60% of the 360's 16 month total sales.  The 360 may win the Hardcore War, but it will not win the Console War.  There are just too many casuals attracted to the Wii.

What you said about the ps3 is probably true as well. Microsoft will gain marketshare , the Wii will gain a lot of marketshare , and Sony will lose a lot. But in the end , the 360 only has a chance to be the new playstation in NA.
