sony is going down a slippery slope, which i think they will recover from, but if sony starts charging for online play/psn to make some extra cheese ($$$) how many of you would stick with psn??

the biggest plus ps3 owners have over 360 is free online.

where would u go and why?

we all know there is more to a ps3 then just free online. ( i just got one and am learning everything there is to when it comes to ps3)

(counter strike go mouse and keyboard anyone??)

Why would you pay for something that was free from the start?

The only reason XBL still has a paid subscription is because people keep paying for it.

Making people pay for PSN would be a joke.

I would say they (MIGHT) consider it next gen. Would I see an issue with it? No. Do I have a PS3? No. An extensive online system is not cheap to design or maintain, and I see no issue in a company charging a (modest) fee for their troubles. As in: about $3-$4 a month, the most I ever paid for gold, and the most I ever would. I just wish, they would show more what they do with the money, its not like its chump change. More exclusives would be a cool result *fingers crossed*

As long as online gameplay stays free, they can charge whatever the hell they like for anything else.

It's one of the PS3's unique selling points. I would be surprised if they abandoned it.

Depends on what is offered in their paid subscription. I can tell you right now that if it's similar to XBL Gold then no I wouldn't pay for it. I'd be gaming more on PC lol. I'd still play single player games on PS3 though.

I doubt they'd charge. Free online on PSN is a selling point for them. I don't see them changing that. If anything, I reckon Sony will just beef up Playstation+ and PS Home (or create a new application to generate money). Then possibly add more services such as Hulu, MLBtv, Netflix etc. to attract more consumers.

If Sony ever starts charging, forget me buying a console from them.

The reason the PS3 is my primary console right now is because I don't have to worry about paying a single dime when I decide to take a break from my PC to play my PS3 games online.

If they do, the Wii U will be my primary console and I won't get a PS4. This also applies to virtual features the console might have. If I have to pay premium to access some/a majority amount of features the console might have, it means the same thing to me. No PS4.

no the playstation brand would be a bigger fail then it is this gen if they did that (in terms of sales n market share losses). They have no multiplayer first party game that comes close to a halo or even a gears of war.

Depends. The service would have to be significantly upgraded before I would be willing to pay... cross game chat being one of the features. They won't do it for the PS3, but if they do it for the PS4 it could impact which console I decide on getting (whether it be the PS4 or Xbox 720).

I'll stick with Sony for the exclusives and the fact that I don't play online multiplayer. I'm exclusively single player. Well, since my 60GB died last night, I don't play at all.

Seriously though, I got my PS3 in February of 2007 and didn't sign up for PSN until October of this year.

What says they will? Two gens of not charging seems to indicate the continuation of that trend.

I hardly play online on consoles. I don't pay for XBL, and I use PS3 more because Netflix doesn't require a membership there to use (as it should be).

I would stick with my ps3 and just play offline until ps4. If all systems charged for online next gen, i guess i'd have no choice if there were a game that interested me, but I mostly have a ps3 because I like the games, funny i know.

I don't think they will start charging for ps3, nor will they charge for ps4.

Free MP online service is a high selling point for them. Sure it may not be as good as 360 online, but still is free. Plus ps3 offers free internet browser service. I don't see them changing anytime soon.

I have not really been playing online too much so I would not care much. However, if they did start charging they would have to improve the services, but I would prefer if it stayed free!

I don't see it happening with the PS3, but if it did happen with the PS4, I would still get a PS4 for the single-player exclusives then get a 720 for online gaming. Either that or I wouldn't play games online at all if i couldn't afford two systems, but that might not be much fun.

The online game I've ever played extensively is LoL on PC... so... it wouldn't matter to me, just keep playing single-player games.

PSN is a crappy service that isn't worth paying for. Only a bona fide idiot would pay...or a PS3 fanboy.

P2P online gaming that isn't worth paying for?

A paid online "service" would have to have dedicated servers and univeral quality control for all the online games to justify the cost.

IF Sony charged for online I would probably have to suck it up and pay, or I wouldconsider upgrading my PC. At any rate they arn't going to charge for it, you know why? Becuase online multiplayer costs virtually NOTNHING to run, most of it is P2P which means your own internet is being used as bandwidth. Xbox Live works the same way, so why does MS charge? Well for no reason but to make profit. The money from the Live fees don't go to online multiplayer at all, it doesn't even go to maintan party chat because that is also P2P.

I think Sony will keep free onlne multiplayer (it's an attractive choice and doesn't cost anything to do so) anad will make PS Plus offer alot more. While I think Xbox Live will actually drop the fee next gen. I do think Sony will keep pusing online passes though, and I wouldn't be surprised if MS joined in.

Would make no difference to me, PC is my main platform and so all my online gaming is done there. I'd stick with Sony because I wouldn't pay it, and they have games I want to play (as with every other console).

Too lazy to renew subscriptions, I rather just stick to portables then.
