Obviously the Cell has a ton of potential. What is potential when you are 5 foot 2 and you wanna play QB in the NFL. I liken that to the Sony PS3. Great work with the Cell, but 512K for memory, and split in 256 slots where you have to program around everything to get the full amount of ram? I mean talk about bottleneck. If they were gonna come out with a price point of 600 dollars then they should of just make the PS3 have 1 gig of ram. Reyes360its 512 MB of ram
but i agree with you, lots of rap would really have compensated for the slow start of learning about the cell

Well it's not $600 now so thats what matters
they all should've done that . memmory is not expensive you know.turgore
It's very expensive. The PS3 uses XDR memory, which is very fast, and thus very expensive. If they put in another 512 megs of that stuff in the PS3 then, if you account for millions of PS3s sold, it could conceivably cost Sony billions of dollars.
Besides, putting 1 gig of ram would be overkill. The PS3 and Xbox 360 require much less memory than a PC which always runs many processes in the background. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are more focused.
It could have 40 GB of ram and developers will still be cheap and lazy.

Yes, because developers enjoy making inferior products that make them look bad. I learned that in "Management 102: How To Make Your Business Go BOOM" at the University of Sarcasm & Facetiousness.

Don't even bother, they're going to damage control no matter what.If/when MGS4 gets less than a 9 (only MGS2 was AAA so why think 4 is automatic AAA?) they will even call Kojima lazy and cheap.
1gb of RAM would be overkill... And would kill Sony financially.Not-A-Stalker
Judging by the texture quality of alot of PS3 games, it wouldn't be.

512mb is more than enough.
