Probably even bigger than if Halo 3 had flopped, I'd say. Blizzard's got a tough job on their hands. The bar for the RTS genre's been raised several times this last year alone.

.....the general gaming public won't care, and will trip over themselves and each other trying to throw money at Blizzard to get the game and call it the 'best RTS ever'.

You obviously don't know Blizzard. It is impossible for SC2 to flop. You see Blizzard has a company policy to only release games that live up to their standards, hence why their games are delayed so much and end up being of top quality.Arhazard

As soon as this comes out, I will slowly morph into aKorean.

It's Blizzard. This company is perfect in every IP they released. whatever it gets it will sell 20 million or more, so i don't think editors will dare give it anything lower than 9

and i played Company of Heroes and alot of RTS's way before Starcraft(i figure its been out so long never player it why not buy it in 2007) so i was actually quite amazed how well it holds up, it still is a really good game, it's way more fun to play than Company of Heroes but Heroes looks way better.

It's Blizzard, they will not put out a game that is the same ol' starcraft with better graphics. I havent seen alot about the gameplay yet, put i would bet my pc they have added something new to the game that will set it apart gameplay-wise from games like WIC

Blizzard doent do anything half-ass, when they FINNALLY get around to releasing a game it is the top of the line.

I doubt it will take any points from WIC....WIC has an entirely different design to it.....I do see it possibly taking some points from Dawn of War though.

anyway...I was just watching the demonstration, and its hard to believe how good the voice acting already sounds.

StarCraft II won't flop, its really not possible if you ask me.

They will not release a product if they don't feel its up to their standards, and their standards are AAA.

Just look at StarCraft: Ghost. That got cancelled as it was almost done.

In an interview in a magazine some months ago the interviewer talked about certain games having a big budget(KZ2) and then asked how big the budget for starcraft 2 was, the Blizzard dude simply replied: " StarCraft 2 has no limited budget."

I know big budgets doesn't mean that the games will be great but that is so bad*ss!!!8)

I dount doubt that....Blizzard has delayed games for years, and virtually started them from scratch (starcraft) or just all out cancelled them when they were 90% done (ghost)

question, if the "godbox" is so godly powerfull, why is Gears of Wars coming the the PC with:

1. Higher Res ?

2. Sharper Textures ?

3. DirectX10 ?
