If the 360 really does get a $100 price drop on August 1.......

Sales are going to be insane. Isn't that about the time that MADDEN drops???? Isn't Madden pretty much the sole reason that MILLIONS of casuals buy video game systems in the first place???? They can play a superior version of Madden (as compared to the PS3- we all know that multi-plats usually stink on the PS3 compared to the 360) for $199 if they just want to play the game, which is cheaper than a Wii. People who just play Madden don't need big time harddrive space either. Honestly, if this price drop is true, I see some huge sales for the 360 immediately, and likely continuing past the holidays due to the coming month's releases. A lot of past-gen Madden players are probably starting to get sick of playing Madden on PS2, and are probably starting to think about upgrading to a next gen system.

Forget about MGS4, FF13, Haze, etc. MADDEN is where the money lies.

that too. The 360 is finally getting darn close to that $199 sweet spot. I wouldn't buy a core, but plenty of people would. $299 for a premium is still a great deal.

You never know with Microsoft they just might go nuts and the Elite would be 299 the premium 249 core 199. Match that with Halo 3 and its gonna blow off the shelves

Seriously. If it really is $100, why buy a PS3? Once the 60gigs run out, the difference between the 360 premium and the PS3 will be $300. You can buy an extra 360 for the price of the difference. A couple exclusives are definitely not going to sway me at all (until 2009, when the PS3 hits $299).

Actually none of the big 3 ever get profits from the consoles sold besides Nintendo of course. So they want to get the systems out as fast as possible because they don't earn money on the systems sold they earn money on peripherals and games sold, so the more the systems sold even at a huge lose means more income.

The question isn't a price drop. The question would be, will the system be reliable? that's what Microsoft should concentrate on right now. the multi plateform games look better on the 360 because they start out on the 360 then they get a trashy port to the PS3. If companies take their time to port it right to the PS3, you know as well as I know that the game will look just as good if not better and Oblivion is an example of just that. Personally, the games are not that much different and I would go for a system that's more reliable than for a system that might have a little edge in the graphics.

The last console I've owned was a N64. Since then I've been a diehard PC game player. But if the 360 really drops that much in price, I'm going to be seriously tempted.

A 360 Premium at $299 would obliterate the Wii at $250

Considering Halo 3 is around the corner, I'd say 360 has a chance to sell beyond Wii sales.

Think about it. 360 has all the bells and whistles, but $50 more than Wii. Plus, a nice sweet library. That's more bang for the wallet.

So what? You also get the superior version of pretty much every multi-platform. If this price drop does happen, the justification for getting a PS3 will become less and less. No console will sell mass amounts at a high price, and even $399 is a bit high.
