Heck, I am not stupid. I would buy an Xbox 360 if that were the case. Reliability and durability first and foremost.
well this is an obvious and stupid question...
2chingy4u
I disagree. I find it intriguing to see how many people here choose fanboyism over common sense.
TC how about you just ask if the ps3 and 360 switched owners with the exact same games and capabilities would people stil remain as fanboys.
hell no! i don't live in usa so i don't get that fancy tech support 360 US guys have. as much as i love sony's previous consoles i would definitely say no.
I'm not stupid either, and I own a 360. Unless you're calling 360 owners stupid.Heck, I am not stupid. I would buy an Xbox 360 if that were the case. Reliability and durability first and foremost.

People are buying the xbox right now arent they?
I'm a PS3 only owner,
And if the PS3 was as defective prone as the XBOX 360, if the PS3 had 50% of its lifetime users experience malfunctioning units,
There is no way in HE double L that I would have bought a PS3...never, because I'm simply not that foolish...period.
I dont buy faulty hardware. I dont care if it is a tv, blu ray, dvd player, a PC,a car, or even a housemade by any company. If it craps out on me one too many times or I hear from the media and society alike that it is faulty I wont buy it.
Ninten007
Exactly Ninten007,
I wouldn't even buy a toaster if it was known to be EGREGIOUSLY failure prone. If you put your hand in a fire, you're bound to get burned, right?
It's simple logic even a pre-kindergardener can understand. It's like, when did the whole planet become retarded? Did the whole world just up and go plumb crazy or something? This is precisely why People that are still buying XBOX 360's kinda disturbs me.

Well ps3 has a failure rate too. Xbox 360's failure rate has slimmed down to the point where ps3's failure rate is only 13% lower. So people still buy them because it appeals to them. Saying you don't get why they buy it when they know it might fail is just like saying. Why buy a hamburger when it might have mad cow disease. EVERYTHING has a failure rate. Now i would understand if xbox's failure rate was still 50% But it is not. It is like 26% now.[QUOTE="Ninten007"]

What i dont get is people on their 5+ xbox. I dont get it aswell, I guess halo is really that amazing that they dont care even if the console is faulty, Im not saying its the only game in xbox but it definitely have the biggest impactI would buy it, and trust me I'm defenitly not going to be a early purchaser for MS next console until I know it's somewhat reliable (or atleast has a awesome warranty).

TheDogout,
I hear you, you are trying to make some logical points, and your logic, in the way you've made would be sound, except there are some serious, major, and obvious flaws with your "said logic" that prevents it from becoming viable.
First of all, PS3 was never at a 50% failure rate. PS3 was never at a 37% failure rate. In fact, TheDogout, PS3 has never been reported or suspected of even a 13% failure rate. According to that Game Informer survey, the failure rate, rather, the people who have had malfunctioning PS3's have been as high as 10%.....that's a far cry from 54% my friend...a bleeding far cry.
Here's another problem that you haven't accounted for:
Yes, I believe MS has fixed many XBOX 360's from breaking in their first year. But Microsoft has not said anything about them being RELIABLE...that's a key word.
You see TheDogout, It isn't too difficult to keep a product from breaking in a year, even 2...but what about year 3, 4 and 5? Can you truly in your heart of hearts tell me with a straight face that you believe your XBOX 360 (assuming you own one) will not break on you?
I can. I can tell you My PS3 wont break, TheDogout. I can also tell you that My Dreamcast wont break, just as i can tell you my PS1 and my N64 and even my Genesis won't break....because they all work to this day. (btw, I have an Atari 2600 and NES my older brother gave to me...they still work, obviously)
I say again, XBOX 360's are known to be EGREGIOUSLY failure prone, and if I bought one, knowing what I know, what you know, and what pretty much everyone else knows, if i bought and it broke on me......I would deserve what the hell I got.
.
I choose not to be foolish.
My take.

I see your point and I cannot say that my xbox will not break on me because one time it wouldn't load a game at all and i got worried. But i will say this. If my xbox hasn't broken down on me and that new chip does what it is suppose to do. If my xbox never breaks down then i have gotten my money's worth. Because the xbox has a bigger game library to me and the features i prefer. But if it breaks you can bet that i am going to sony.[QUOTE="Persistantthug"][QUOTE="TheDogout"] Well ps3 has a failure rate too. Anyone who thinks electronics are reliable and durable are living in fantasy land. Also, it's not like buying a car or house. The investment is small so to be that worried about electronics breaking seems a bit absurd.

What i dont get is people on their 5+ xbox.I think when people have bought 10 or 15 games for a console, it's past the point of no return. You can't really recoup all of your money by trading in; Probably why many just buy a new arcade instead. I personally have not and will not buy a 360 due to it's unreliable hardware, and I believe there is a whole other meaning to the term "jump in". Each to their own, I suppose.I'd say Goodbye Sony and Hello MS. Reliability is 65% the reason I choose one brand over another. Then everything else makes up the remaining 35%.
I don't know how anyone can support a company that knowingly releases a console out to the public with a 45% failure rate and then takes 3-4 years to solve it?
Then you combine that with paying $99 for WiFi add-on, $200 for HD DVD add-on which was a losing/fading format, paying $50yr per ID to play online, paying $15 per controller to make them charge and play, and having scratchable discs VS a PS3 which does all these things and more included in it.
It is utterly unacceptable to do the things MS has done with the 360 compared to what it's competitors (Wii, PS3) offer.
Yes, because PS3 is the greater value (blu-ray, wifi, free online, usb charging for controllers, easily upgradeable harddrive) and I prefer the ps3's exclusives. All of my friends also own a ps3 (well thanks in part to me since I was an early adopter and helped convince everyone to go with ps3).
