If there ever is a FF7 remake it will be only on PS3.

It is published by Sony. Which means it could never come on another console except a Sony one.

Square still holds the rights to all of the Final Fantasy IP. They may need to pay a royalty, but they certainly can and happily would go elsewhere. If they remade it, do you seriously think it would go on the PS3 instead of the DS?ReverieDLM

That was then...when they JUST launched a 3D game and could not afford to publish it.

Now they Publish their own games, Sony has no rights to FF 7 or any other FF on any Playstation Franchise.

It would be on the PS3 most likely, but not for the reason you stated...

True, it is an opinion. But Final Fantasy VI, IV and VIII (and some of the other Square IPs like Chrono) were so much better. And in the end, that's all that really matters to me. It's my own opinion.

Hahaha Square-Enix cares about Sony.  That is why they are making FFVII Crisis Core, Dissidia, Star Ocean: The First Departure, Star Ocea: The Second Evolution, Final Fantasy Tactics and more for PSP, along with an expansion for FFXII on the PS2, and Final Fantasy XIII with Versus XIII for PS3.  You don't know much about Square-Enix.

Porting FF VII to any console would be a dumb move anyway. They would just make a ful fludged remake for a console, and they probably wont make it.  Stop hoping for a remake.

Newsflash: Any company can backstab any other company.  (It's funny how fanboys always think they have a smart response.)  As far as I'm concerned, Square-Enix will stick with the devolping they have in progress, and you are not Square-Enix, so you cannot tell people what their intentions "would be."

Besides that, backstabbing Sony would earn them the same reputation as Capcom, and they don't want that.  They make their their games for their Japanese fans anyway.

Capcom backstabbed Nintendo with RE4 and Sony with Devil May Cry 4.  It's old news, especially RE4.

You're right about Xbox360, but if you are saying that they would go for the biggest profit pool, it would be the PS2, and they haven't made a remake for PS2.  They have planned an expansion for FFXII though.

As far as an FFVII remake goes, it is probably not going to happen.  Square-Enix will just make more addons like Crisis Core, Dissidia, or Revenant Wings.

Exactly, people need to learn that Square-Enix is trying to make new ideas, not remakes.

EDIT: Besides the remakes of Star Ocean 1 and 2 and FF Tactics for PSP, and FFIII for DS (Which was the actually the first version to come to the U.S.), Square-Enix is probably not going to make a remake for FFVII, because everybody thinks they are going to do it.

i wouldnt want S-E to make sequals/prequals of xenogears. they would just butcher the story without the ppl who made the game. xenogears was an awsome game, and i dont want it to be like chrono cross.
