If there is a such thing as a Casual FPS , then Halo is King.

Well we pretty much new this.

UT3 is also mindless fun, with an all-round similar feel to Halo (But more goreish and faster paced). So maybe it will get alot of recognition on the consoles.

you know why Halo is so popular?

when xbox launch and in its life span, Halo is the best game on the system and the game is good and got good ratings.

and Fanboys use it and run with it ever since, and Halo still live up to its name and gotten good review ever since, if you bring halo to PS or Nin it wouldn't be popular at all.

Now that is the truth, I bet even if there was a multiplat Halo 3 release on 360 and PC ... it would go seriously neglected on the PC side ..

i agree with the MLG Part. But any game can be considered casual or hardcore depening on how the player plays it. but i wouldnt consider any game played professionally as just 'casual' it definitely has some merit.

And this guy is why Halo does so well.

Bungie releases a simple yet fun FPS game that gets good reviews because, like I said it was really simple and fun, plus it was on a dying system that needed that one "game". Then, people start picking up the game more and more and with little to no knowledge of the FPS genre, they start claiming Halo to be what this guy is trying to claim.

No, this is the problem with people today, yet get told to "get a life" if you are into simple thigns such as cooking an know more than the basics .. thats just 1 in a million examples.

Idiots who say "Get a life" are those people that dont do anything creative or anything in depth trying to make themselves feel better.

Harcore in games = Knows about a wide variety of games, will play games with more depth, and dont follow sheepish hype or only play the most common games.

If you choose to play the game with no thought, you can. But to be good you have to work hard at it. Easy to pick up, difficult to master. This is what makes the multiplayer great.

No it isn't true; it's a wonderful myth fanboys (particularly hermits) like to circulate. That standards are higher on all other platforms so it's easier to be a AAA on the xbox.

If that's the case, why does the review make a point of highlighting one of the best shooters on the xbox, IF NOT ANY PLATFORM. ?

Casuals go blindly into the market buying anything with good marketing, anything gimmicky like obsessing over every "Real-Life Related Game", or instantly jumping on the trian of though "Halo is best FPS ever, because its the concensus amongst those around me".

Yea i understand. But honestly, it takes serious skill and planning in Halo 2's online (CTF, assault, team slayer). You can win just by running and jumping around sometimes, but most of the time you need a team that knows what they are doing, communicates, etc. Thats why its so hard to get past a 32+ if you go solo into team matches

Yea, thats the case in most FPS's , you can win by being a Rambo or a Lonewolf sometimes, team-play the other.

But, Halo in general had a very easy control scheme, and a huge margain for error, examples:

1) You can jump out of the way EASILY of warthogs.

2) Melee Mchanic is more powerful than pumping people with machine gun fire.

3) Left hand very accurate grenades (This is the one thing that annoys me about Halo ... makes killing People/Vehicles too easy.

4) Slow paced movement.

5) Fast recharging shield.

Its a very forgiving FPS and easy for everyone to get into ... thats its "Casual" nature.
