We dont need a handheld version of RROD. But seriously we dont need 3 handhelds (not counting iPhone). The market isnt big enough for that. Microsoft is smart for leaving it alone.

If Microsoft put out a handheld, I would not buy it. That much I am sure of.

Agreed, Microsoft hardware has been pretty crummy to me so far.

Contrary to what has been said so far, I think M$ making a handheld would in some ways be a good thing. It would drive the handheld market more; maybe giving us a powerful handheld with some nice innovations in.

On the other hand though I do agree with all you previous posters: M$ shouldn't really be trusted to make any more hardware! Especially not compacting it so a portable RROD is more likely :P

It would probably be the worst out of the three.

that made me laugh, since none of that sounds like something microsoft could do in the handheld market. with that being said, i want a nintendo 3ds.

Haha I am trying to have an objective opinion here! :P

To be fair though, we can't speculate much either way on what M$ could do in the the handheld market one way or other because they have not entered the handheld gaming market before.

Hmmm, I doubt it. Not without the support of Japanese developers. Would be great for online on the go if it was leaps and bounds ahead of what we currently have, though, but again it'd need some games to go with it.

No, a handheld requires a good first party which Microsoft doesn't have. It seems like Nintendo has more than half their devs working on DS games. Hal Labratories has made like 6 DS games and 1 Wii game if you count Brawl. Intelligent has made 8 DS games and 3 Wii games. Then you have Nintendo EAD, that is about half Wii games, half DS. Then there is Monolith who has worked on 4 DS games 2 Wii , Nintendo Software technology and Brownie Brown who work on lesser DS games, Nintendo SPD group 1 who have worked on 4 DS games, and 1 Wii game (Other M), And SPD group 2, who had made 2 DS games and 0 Wii games. I havn't even said anything about the 3DS either. It requires a lot of first party. Which Microsoft has a low amount of. The only good thing about it is, Rare will most likely make games on it, instead of the console, and it might have a high 3rd party support, if they do not go to the 3DS.

All information from Wikipedia, so it may more may not be off.

we can't tell,at least not before we know it's capabilities, for example at the era of the GBA when people talked about a new handheld they weren't expecting it to have a touch screen, and for a handheld to be successful it needs to have sth that neither the PSP nor the 3DS have which seems difficult to accomplish

Without much first or second party gaming there would be no reason.

i think the best Handheld would be one that would put out graphics has good as cgi... seriously, i think you are talking about press right? cuz this days is all about it, a game is only great if the press says so, as system is only good if the press says so. in that line of thought and given the 360 press i think a MS Handheld would do pretty good.

I'm not sure what Microsoft would put on it exactly. So, it probably wouldn't be better.

it would probably 'be' better, but it would just sell terribly.

like the Zune, although there's nothing 100% conclusive, I've read how it trumps the iPod as a media player, but it just doesn't have the sales to back it up.

that's why MS is just integrating their XBL platform and some simple games to their Windows Phone and Zune, instead of making a new device, promote your current hardware and play it safe.

believe it or not, some people want those games on handheld....because they enjoy them...you know how Mario fans who own a Wii/DS probably love having the option. Zelda and Metroid to boot.

it's not worth spiting people over a game series. especially when you don't have to see or even play said series.

and for some odd reason after 4 years later (could be 5), microsoft is still making the zune with their newest model (the 64gb) coming out in august.

Why isn't the market big enough for that? There's certainly enough room for three consoles? Don't take that as me supporting the idea that Microsoft should make a handheld though, because it would probably fail miserably. Handhelds seem to rely on exclusives more than anything and Microsoft is clearly lacking in that area, and several other areas but I won't get into that.

I agree to an extent. I do however feel that series such as Halo, and characters such as Mario need to just die out soon.
