I started a thread about these types of threads and no one bothers to respond. Wii is Wii because of the controller. It's not a GC with a new controller. All an 360 is is an xbox with better graphics. All a PS3 is is a PS2 with better graphics and a means to force BR down consumers throats.

Remember GC2 would still be > GC1 with or without the controller.
Let's talk about taking game controllers out of the equations for a sec.
Have you ever played an Xbox 360 or PS3 without a controller? It makes the console suck, especially if you don't have a controller, which is vital for the success of any system.
Taking the Wiimote away from the Wii would be the same as taking the X360Â controller away from the X360 and the PS3 controller away from the PS3.
Same with the PC. You can't really play PC games without a Keyboard or mouse.
ANY game console - controller = GAME OVER.
ANY PCÂ - keyboard and/or mouse = GAME OVER (WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES) (Christ!).
[QUOTE="Brown52"]If they made a GC2, I'd buy that too. Actually, I think I'd prefer it over the Wii.KaarsteinBut what would be the difference between 360/PS3/GC2, why have 3 seperate consoles on the market if they all did basically the same?
do you honestly think that would make it better? it would just be a GC2 then.blue_phazon
No, but I DO think that a fully-decked (or close to) hardware platform WITH the innovative controller would have gone a VERY long way to making the other two systems obsolete.
Remember GC2 would still be > GC1 with or without the controller.

I don't understand your point. When you take away the input (controller/keyboard) you are now just watching TV.

I have edited my original statement. You'll understand my point...hopefully.

You can't play electronic games without their controllers. Take the controller out of the equation and you get some unplayable brick instead of a gaming console. The Wiimote is the Wii's standard controller. Taking it out of the equation would make the Wii unplayable, just as the other systems would be without their standard controllers.
Hopefully there will be games that change your mind in the future. But as I see topic after topic on SW that compares graphicks between 360 and PS3, or the difference in specs of the two consoles, it makes me wonder why we would need a third console that does basically the same thing. Personally I hope that the next-gen all three will try to be more unique, so that games on all the consoles would be different, instead of 360 and PS3 trying to do the same as the other one does.
The difference to me between the systems is the games I can play on them. The fact that Nintendo is now using a Wiimote is just a different way to input the controls to me. (hides from sheep again)
Nintendo hasn't really given me a reason to love the wiimote yet. At least not like they have with the touch screen for the DS.Â
